As the last few people went home you were handing in all the endless paper work you'd done. Connor was watching the very last person walk out, lock the doors, and drive away before whipping around and grabbing both your arms "what's wrong with you?!" He asked in an almost accusatory tone. "Wait, w-what did I do?" You asked flustered. "What did you do?' You've been struggling to stay calm all day and you stabbed yourself with a pen. That's two things." Connor wouldn't let you go. There was a mixture of concern and anger in his eyes. "I- I..." You couldn't think of anything, no words could save you.Out of all the emotions a mood swing could throw at you, it was helplessness... Overwhelming helplessness. Against your will tears started pouring down your face, there was no stopping it. You didn't try to say anything or go anywhere, you just cried as Connor sat there in shock not knowing what to do or what was going on. Of course, you crying wasn't something he wasn't familiar with, just this time it was different. Your whole body was trembling and the look in your eyes hurt him more than anything. "I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Im sorry, I'm s-sorry" you repeated over and over as you just slumped to the floor. Connor, of course, didn't know the true reason you were apologizing and crying, but he still hugged you and attempted to calm you down, like when a mother soothingly shushes her child when they get hurt and wail.
You clutched onto him and cried, you hated this, it was so much easier when you were just an obedient machine. Now all you did was stress about raging emotions and now show how helpless you really were to the one person you didn't want to. "I-it's okay, everything's fine. Tell me what's going on." The male android warily spoke, he was truly scared about what was going on with you. You pulled away from him, your face blue from how hard you were crying, and you'd managed to tint a darker shade of grey on Connor's uniform from tears. "I.... I'm so sorry." You sniffled.
"What's wrong?" Connor asked. "I-I just... I-" you tried choking out any words at all. Connor really didn't know what to do, and you hated the fact you were causing him to feel this way. You couldn't stop, you tried. You furiously wiped the tears from your eyes and struggled to calm down. It took a good minute before you had it under control. "I, I... I'm good." You said taking deep breaths. "What's going on with you?" You looked up at Connor and you felt so guilty. He was distraught beyond word and worried. "We've been getting no where with the investigation..." You started lying right through your teeth. "I guess it's just been getting to me..." You looked at the floor to hide your face. Connor was silent.
"... You're lying." He simply said. You looked up at him as he sat in front of you. "Lie after lie, why don't you trust me?" His voice... Was quivering. "Don't leave me in the dark about things, we're supposed to trust each other. Why don't you trust me?" He was so broken... Tears started trickling down his face. God... You'd put him through so much shit...
The tears you'd just stopped came back as you wiped away his. "I know, I haven't been the greatest... I just need to sort things out before talking to anyone. There's-there's just too much to load on to you." Connor moved your hands away from your face. "Fine... You don't have to tell me anything..." He got up and offered his hand. "Connor..."
"It's fine..." When you stayed on the floor he walked away to his desk. You sat there for a while before walking out. You walked and walked, you soon came to a street were you could see the top of a digital flag on a building... And a commotion a couple streets over. You knew what was happening, you quickly turned away and walked towards the forest that was a ways away. Who knows how deep you went into the trees. All you knew was you couldn't see your way out.
You slumped down to the ground against one of the many trees. You felt like trash, he was so broken, and hurt, and angry, and fuck! You really fucked up. How were you going to fix this?! 'Oh yeah, by the way I'm a deviant' no way in hell you could tell him the truth. He was right, you'd been lying to him and keeping him in the dark about this... But, maybe it's better if you didn't tell him, at least it would save some hurt. There was no good outcome for this. Helplessly you looked up to the canopy of tree branches above and admired the moons light for comfort. You closed your eyes and let out a long sigh, but when you opened your eyes, you were in a slightly different setting.
"What are you doing out here? You know you're supposed to be in bed." You softly scolded the same little girl you'd seen before that was sitting upon a low branch. "I know... I'm not tired though. You're lucky, you ever have to sleep!" The girl exclaimed as you joined her on the branch. "Well, I can sleep if I want." You shrugged. "But that's if you want." The girl said as she looked through the branches towards the moon. "Hmmm... What if I said I wanted you to go to sleep?" You asked jokingly. "Then I'd reply with 'not everyone gets what they want'." She replied cheekily with a giggle. You let out a short laugh before hopping off the tree you were sitting on. "Come on &@m$, let's go back to your room." You held out your hand to the girl. She sighed and took your hand "fine..." She followed your footsteps as you walked back to the school you'd seen before. "How did you get past the others?" You asked the child. "They're stupid... Not very observant." She blatantly said. "Well then..." You huffed in amusement. Once you got to the school, talking ceased and nothing but footsteps reverberated off the dark halls.
At the back of the school there was stairs going down and more halls. Some doors were open, some weren't. The hall light was on down here, unlike upstairs. With the girl still holding your hand, you peered into one of the opened doored rooms, there was a little boy with messy black hair curled up in a bed, fast asleep. So... Not a school?
Bedrooms... Some had drawings scattered on the walls, toys across the floors and the rooms seemed colorful and like any normal child's room. At the end of the hall the girl opened a door, most probable, to her room. The walls were painted with a galaxy design... Whoever painted it must've taken forever. She took off her shoes and crawled into bed and shut off a night light on her night stand. "Goodnight, (Y/n)." She yawned. "Night." You responded.
Everything went blank at the sound of a gun shot.
Haha, cliff hanger... Sort of. Anyways, I hope your enjoying the light angst. I'll leave you to wonder all about this strange place while I work on the next chapter😊
