Chapter 3: Truth from the Lions' Den

  " Now, O king, establish the injunction and sign the document, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and the Persians,which cannot be revoked."

" Reading the Book of Daniel, then?" Daisy smiled as she saw me scrolling down the holographic file. We were on our way to the Knights Headquarters after a meeting with Captain Bobcat.

" I still don't get it," I sighed and seemed too perplexed. " How come an innocent guy turned out to be bad? He never committed a serious crime after all. The lawmakers wanted him to get executed."

" The king was the only center of power at that time," P answered as he drove the Black Corvette. " They forbade the prophet to glorify the Supreme Being which they considered it as a crime."

" Well, that's too awkward though..." I replied. " It's unreasonable to put a man in his death row."

" Death row?" Daisy raised her pitch as she curiously heard the word I had mentioned.

" What's wrong?"

" Y, I have feeling about someone will get executed. It can't be..."

Finally, we found ourselves being warped to our next destination. A wormhole pulled and lead us to the KNIGHTS Headquarters. The place reminded me of the old Beacon Academy Building in Remnant. But it seemed to be in Switzerland where we had landed. I was moving my head to and fro to see the luscious trees and majestic mountain ranges.

" Ladies, we're here.." P said as we left the vehicle. " We have to find a way to meet the Star Queen and Agent Omega. I found a suspicion in this place."

" Yes, sir." Daisy and I nodded as we entered the premises.

It was more like a scientific research institution rather than an espionage faction nerve post. The KNIGHTS agents kept busied themselves in the entire headquarters. The other people were staring at us which I felt frightened. The white walls at the entrance gave us an eerie welcome. I looked at the man in another black suit who seemed familiar to me. He was the most different from all the crowd and being very friendly when we arrived.

" Hey there, blondie!" the man greeted and waved his hand. " You've brought someone!"

" Agent Lumpkin," I replied and smiled. " It's been a while since we've met in Las Vegas."

" So do I," the man answered and turned to my other companions. " Well, it's good to see you again, Pyromaniac and Agent Johnson!"

" Lumpkin, we're here to see someone," P seriously said.

" I know. It's Rockford," he sighed. " He's my friend, but Star Queen is responsible for his arrest."

" Who's Star Queen?" Daisy asked.

Lumpkin gave us a more austere look as he knew who the person was. P and I exchanged glances as we're anticipating his answer. He cleared his throat and lowered his voice.

" She's Kitty Pryde of S.H.I.E.L.D."

" WHAT?!" we surprisingly exclaimed at his answer.

" How could she possibly do that?!" Daisy added. " She's one of us in the Champions!"

" I knew it! She could not be trusted!" P indignantly spoke as he crossed his arms.

" You must be joking right?!" I nervously grinned. "Kitty's our friend. She can't even do that, can she?"

" Listen, I know this faction's getting weirder than ever," Lumpkin answered. " I don't even like what's going on here. I'm gonna leave this place, right now."

" What do you mean?" I asked.

" I don't want to get involved in the KNIGHT's trouble. I'm gonna be doomed. If you want to see Pyrde, just go to the prison cell. She's the second warden, there. Please don't tell anyone that I've given you her real identity."

" We will." P nodded. " We are here to investigate this case."

Agent Lumpkin immediately left us as we headed to the prison area. It was a dark and large place full of strong compartment rooms. I heard voices inside them. They were criminals whom they had arrested. My senior agent boyfriend searched for Omega. He went looking as we helped him.

" Guys, I saw him!" Daisy pointed at the farther side of the corridor. " Over there.."

" Wait..." P said. " I'm hearing something."

" What is it?" I asked.

" It's an argument. Y, please go with Daisy to check him. I'll listen to that discourse."

" P, please be safe," I said.

" I will," he nodded. We left him near the warden's office. He kept listening as the 2 female voices argued inside. They seemed to be bothered in this situation about Omega's imprisonment.

" What do you mean, a trial?" the lady raised her voice as she couldn't believe in what she heard.

" Magik, it's the only way to defend himself," the other woman answered. " If I he never wins this case, he will be executed."

" But, Kitty..." Magik pleaded. " You can't do that to him! He's trying to save anyone from trouble! You don't understand!!"

" He's breaking his Knightly oath!" she angrily exclaimed. " He will be guilty for it!"

" I WILL TESTIFY THAT EVAN IS NOT GUILTY!"

" Are you trying to dare me to fight you?!"

" Because, you never cared!"

P overheard their furious discourse and thought of something to caught their attention before he confronted them. He cleared his throat and gently knocked at the door. The two women got startled as they glared.

" Who is it?" Kitty asked.

" I want to see the lovely Star Queen for an important meeting. It's the about the Philosopher's Stone!" " P changed his sternly modulated voice into a higher and livelier male pitch. " This is Roy Mustang from Central City."

" Roy Mustang??" Magik raised her eyebrows. " I've never heard of that guy..."

" Well, he must be a relevant visitor. I think he needs an appointment." Kitty walked through the door and said. " Come in, Mr. Mustang."

She opened it and saw a tall handsome man with a spiky dark hair. Kitty was surprised as she never expected to see him. Magik remained speechless at this moment.

" Wait a second..." Kitty muttered and recognized him. " Pyromaniac?! YOU TRICKED ME!!"

" Looks like, I have found the real culprit in bringing Omega into the Lions' Den." he smirked and crossed his arms. "Isn't that right, Star Queen?! Or should I call you, Miss Pryde?"

" How did you know? Did someone reveal my identity to you?!"

" Let's just say, it's classified."

" But... But..."

" MIB agents like me can make a lot of speculations," P said. " It's too bad that you can't conceal yourself anymore. You're a Knight Agent and perhaps, A TRAITOR!"

" You don't understand, Pyro..."

" I've learned you're responsible in arresting him. How come?"

" Alright, I did it..." Kitty anxiously replied. " I was trying to comply according to the regulations."

" Miss Pryde, he saved my life up there. The Zeta Reticulumites almost killed me in my solo space mission few days ago. It seemed that your overrated and corrupted Knightly Oath got too intense." P seriously explained. " If he were not there to rescue me, then I should have met my second death."

" I didn't know about that. I was just following..."

" THE RULES, AGAIN?" Agent P grimly glared at her. Kitty was terrified to see him like that. " Miss Pryde, please don't wait me to incinerate you. You won't even like it."

" Please let me explain..."

" I've already understood," the Inhuman MIB sarcastically sighed and shrugged. " Captain Bobcat mentioned me of your senseless KNIGHT Protocols."

" You've met him?"

" Of course, he was afraid to see me scorching. That's all!"

" Please, I was just doing this for Evan..."

" What?! Let him get eaten with your lions! Enough of this, Miss Pryde. It seems you are not cooperating with us to settle the issue."

" Pyromaniac, why are you being so sarcastic?"

Agent P was in his serious mood and said, " You don't even realize a loyal friend who keeps his pure intention and friendship. He trusted you, Kitty. WE TRUSTED HIM! If I were him, I could have forgotten and disowned you. You've betrayed him."

" But..."

" PLEASE STOP ACTING LIKE A JERK!"

Suddenly, a loud rap on the door caught their attention. Magik opened it. Daisy and I entered the office. P and Kitty paused their heated conversation. They became curious as they gazed at us. We expected that this was going to happen.

" Agent Y, I thought you two are looking for Omega."

" Sir, I'm sorry to eavesdrop, " I said. " Daisy decided to stay outside the office."

" Yeah, we've heard everything." she added.

" But I ordered you to..."

" I know... I know..." I replied. " It's just we want to talk to Kitty, too."

" Yang... Daisy...." Kitty trembled as her tears fell on her face. She felt guilty from what she had done. " I'm so sorry. It's all my fault! I didn't know Evan's trying to save Pyromaniac from a disaster! I had set up this arrest!!"

P, Daisy, and I turned our heads to each other as we had understood of this issue. Kitty tried to wipe her face which she tried to compose herself at this moment. Magik was blankly looking at the K.I.S.S. warden and being emotionless.

" I've understood you arrested him." I calmly said. " But why are you doing this?"

" I'm saving Evan from harm," she replied. " The W.I.T.C.H. agents are trying to destroy us. That's why I'm using "Star Queen" as my alias to protect myself and the one whom I love the most. Now, you know my identity. They might be everywhere and can threaten anyone."

" Is there a way we can save him?" Daisy asked.

" I arrested Evan for his protection."

" Kitty, there must be another way," I convinced her as I could. " You can save him! You should have thought of keeping him away from your enemies rather than getting him into jail."

" But that's the only solution that I know. He committed several violations and he should face his trial."

" Please we can peacefully settle this among ourselves. We'll do anything to bring Omega's innocence and protection."

" I can't. I'm so sorry..." she wept.

" Please do something just to save him. Don't make this problem too complicated for us."

Kitty couldn't contain herself as she bitterly wept. Daisy approached the Knight Agent and comforted her. She understood it. Pyromaniac felt sorry for what he had said earlier. He realized that this was the only way to save Omega, although it was not good idea. Thinking too deeply, he remained silent for a while. It took more than a minute to reflect and create his calculations in his mind. I noticed him in his stillness when I stepped near him. We left the office for a while to have our private conversation.

" Sir, can you tell me what's in your mind?" I asked.

" I have been too harsh for saying the truth, Agent Y," he replied. " Being too rational and frank can hurt anyone's emotions."

" I understood that you're investigating this matter and bringing your friend to justice. There's nothing wrong about that. Maybe, you should have been nicer to confront her."

" Well, I'm going to apologize later. I'm still deciphering what she has said about the arrest. The WITCH agents are a threat to prevent anyone from a certain event.

" Yeah, I remembered when Breenie and Salem almost ruined our vacation in Las Vegas."

" Exactly," he nodded. " I've read Omega's previous exploits in saving everyone from his enemies several times. The KNIGHT Agents found them as a series of violations."

" So, It's just like a Persian Decree? a regulation? a protocol?"

" Affirmative. Like the scriptures says, "it cannot be revoked."

" Oh, I got it."

" The old prophet Daniel kept the ways of worshiping the Lord Supreme Being. Therefore, he did right."

" Now, you're talking about biblical logic."

" But in the eyes of men, he committed a serious crime."

" So, there's a real meaning in what I've read earlier?"

" Yes, you have found the answer."

" Is it corruption and deceit for some objective?"

P nodded and smiled. It was my first time to figure out a passage and this situation which I have been searching for the past few days. Omega's arrest was simply a set-up from the Knights Agents. Finally, I had unlocked my logical side which I had discovered by myself. I felt happy that I had solved this mind-boggling problem.

" Did you remember what Lumpkin had said earlier?"

" Yeah, he said that something's wrong in this faction."

" Corruption is happening around. I may thoroughly investigate this case." he said.

" But what about the WITCH agents?" I asked. " What should we do with them? What about the trial she mentioned? And Omega? Is he going to be executed for real?"

" I have thought of another solution, sunshine."

" Now, I understood Mr. Pyromaniac's genius thinking!" I grinned and kissed his cheek after I speculated his conclusion. " You're getting hotter than ever! That's why I love you so much!"

" Let's get inside as I'll explain everything." P blushed and looked delighted as he opened the door.

" Guys, what you took so long?" Daisy asked.

" P has to tell something." I said.

" Miss Pryde, I'm sorry for this confrontation," he sincerely said as the Inhuman Knight agent paid an attention. " I never realized that I offended you in the first place. But, I thought of another way to bring Agent Omega for his protection."

" What is it?" she asked after she composed herself from crying.

" I propose to put him into custody under MIB," P confidently answered. " If you plan to put him on trial, then we will do anything to protect him from your enemies."

" I don't know of this proposal you are insisting..."

" Rather than experiencing his arrest and execution, we should agree for his temporary and safe settlement. I may recommend a defense lawyer to support his case."

" It's very convincing, but I can't decide this by myself."

" Is it something to do with the WITCH Agents?" P asked.

" Yes," she nodded. " I'm doing this in order to prevent cosmic disorder from them."

" Actually, I'm one of them," Magik nervously admitted. " I put anyone into trouble first, before the organization's interests. The KNIGHTS and WITCH people are like cats and dogs. We have been enemies for a long time. We tend to destroy and alter everything in the universe. We are extremely powerful and enormous enough to hinder the allies' job."

" So, you're behind this mess?" P gravely asked.

" I can't tell. Now, Kitty revealed herself as the Star Queen. Some of us might destroy the world, first.We WITCH Agents are sneaky like that!"

" The KNIGHTs Agents can control or ruin anyone within seconds? How come you can't?"

" Well, we don't do that instantly," she answered. " It takes time to summon spells for our plans. Anyway, Evan is a KNIGHT agent in all along. He had problems in phasing; that's why he's using a vehicle to teleport into different universes. Perhaps, a nerdy-geek like you call it, 'Multiverse theory'. The Knights can go anywhere and anytime without limits."

" That 1963 Black Corvette," P thought that vehicle he drove. " It has a sub-atomic warping device. It must be a ride to Porombo Island, before. Omega took us that time."
