The kitchen was a hive of activity and chaos. Everyone was chatting at the breakfast table and Jay and Floss were fighting over the frosted loops. A friendly tussle over the cereal box soon turned into out and out war after Sasha casually mentioned that there was only enough frosted loops left for one due to the enormous portion Tyler was devouring at the other end of the table.

Jay accidently knocked into Candy-Rose as he yanked the box from Floss and Candy Rose spilt milk and cereal down her top.

This resulted in Jay, Floss and Candy-Rose entering into a raucous argument. Soon the entire breakfast table had erupted into a cacophony of voices as Bird and Taz joined the fray, May-Li tried desperately to calm things down and Sasha and Chloe attempted to explain to May-Li what had happened including some charade like re-enactments.

Mike walked in just as the noise and arguing reached its climax

QUIET! He shouted. What on earth is going on?

Five minutes later after almost everyone had given their versions of events, Mike would have been pulling his hear out if he'd had any left

Look I'm sorry I even asked. Jay and Floss there's more to life than frosted loops, next time just choose a different cereal! Both of you apologise to Candi-rose and Candi-rose it's just a top, put it in the washing machine and it will be as good as new in an hour. Now...

But Mike....

That's so not fair...

Frost loops are the best...

Er Shhhh! Mike was trying to talk. Not another word or there'll be extra chores for all of you... warned May-Li warding off another eruption

Thank you May-Li. Right now we've got that sorted, what I came in to say was that this week I'll be having meetings with all the older residents about life beyond Ashdene Ridge.

What?

Why?

Your joking right?

It's nothing to worry about, it's just the first steps towards making plans for life after you leave care. Jody, I'd like to start with you, if that's alright. My office at 11?

Sure

Great. The rest of you, there'll be a list on the noticeboard of the meeting time allocations and please can you finish breakfast without anymore dramas.

Mike left hurriedly muttering something about paperwork to May-Li, which was merely an excuse to get out of the kitchen before anymore fights broke out. May-Li had no intention of hanging around either and headed into the utility room to sort out the laundry.

All these meetings do my head in complained Jody

I suppose they're just trying to help but I feel like I've only just settled in, I don't want to think about leaving already interjected Charlie

I've got enough to deal with right now with college and course work and stuff. Last thing I wanna add to the list is choosing which grimy flat to move into added Sasha

Speak for yourselves. I cant wait to get out of this dump and have a place of my own interrupted Ryan

Me too agreed Alex What about you Tyler?

I dunno, haven't really thought about it. Muttered Tyler glancing furtively at Jody as he got up and left the room

Jody knew exactly what her plans were. She and Tyler would get a flat together. It would be great. No more fighting over the cereal or the tv remote. No care workers watching their every move and getting involved in their business. Just the two of them, in their own flat, doing things the way they wanted. She knew Tyler wanted the same, it was an unspoken promise that they would stay with each other no matter what. They had never really discussed life after care in any detail but they both knew they wanted to be together and Tyler had always reassured Jody that she'd never be alone because they had each other.
