Chapter 26 - Tyler vs Kingsley

Tyler had left the others to deal with Ant, Benjy and Kelly and headed straight for Kingsley. He found him in the office. He had got into the safe and taken the petty cash and was now rifling through the tech box examining the various laptops and tablets that were kept there.

Hello Kingsley

Its you again. What are you doing here?

I'm stopping you from stealing all our belongings.

And how are you going to do that?

You seem to be forgetting I'm not a little kid anymore. Tyler stepped forward until he was so close to Kingsley he could smell his breath which reeked of beer and stale cigarette smoke. Tyler was as tall as Kingsley and slightly broader. The first time he had come face to face with Kingsley he had been just a scared kid , cowering in the corner, powerless to fight back. But now he was bigger and stronger and was easily a match for Kingsley.

Kingsley looked him up and down and laughed.

Easy Tiger. What's got into you? 

You. I'm sick to death of you treating Jody the way you do. Locking her in her room, trying to get her to do you dirty work for you. You are nothing but a bully and a coward, getting your kicks out of intimidating and hurting people that are smaller or weaker than you. What kind of person is willing to leave his sister to burn in a flat and burgles a kids home? 

Now look here. You're forgetting one thing. Snarled Kingsley grabbing Tyler by the collar.

If I go down, Jody goes down too. He spat the words out, flecks of phlegm spraying out of his mouth.

I wont let you do that.

Oh and what are you going to do about it? She drew a plan of the house, told me exactly where all the valuables were and where to find the spare key.

Yeah because you locked her in a room for days on end with barely any food until she did what you said.

Yeah I softened her up by keeping her locked up but you cant prove that can you. It'll be my word against hers and if she knows what's good for her she'll keep her mouth shut.

Tyler lost his temper and hit out at Kingsley. Suddenly they were tussling on the ground.

Stop it screamed Jody as she ran into the room with Sasha and Alex close behind.

Kingsley, Tyler, stop, please stop.

They were now rolling around on the floor fighting, suddenly Tyler rolled on top of Kingsley and managed to pin Kingsley to the floor and swung his arm back ready to punch. But the sound of Jody's voice made him freeze. He grimaced and then let his arm fall to his side. He got up and backed away from Kingsley.

Jody what are you doing here? Exclaimed Kingsley

Defending my home and helping my family, my real family she replied

Huh, your real family eh? Sneered Kingsley getting to his feet

Yes my real family

This bunch of saddos and losers are your real family?

You're the only saddo and loser round here. These people are my true family. They care about me and they wont let me down. That's more than I can say about you

The wail of police sirens interrupted the conversation

The police are here exclaimed Sasha and dashed off to the front door

Its over Kingsley. I don't care what happens to me as long as you get locked up for a very long time.

Within minutes the house was swarming with police and Kingsley was being led out of the house in handcuffs. He was followed shortly after by Ant and Benjy, who covered in red and pink paint looking more like giant jelly babies than burglars and Kelly who was sporting huge holes in the back of her trousers, where her trousers had been so strongly fused to the chair by the super glue, that they tore when the police pulled her off. This was the sight that met the eyes of Mike, May-li and the rest of the DG kids as Mike drove the minibus up to the house. He parked up and then jumped out of bus and rushed to the front door whilst May-li tried to keep the kids on the bus.

Tyler, Sasha, Alex, Jody! He cried out as he entered the house

Mike stopped in his tracks as he saw the children were ok . They were sitting on the sofa with blankets round their shoulders and a friendly police woman was handing out cups of hot tea

Oh you're all right. Thank goodness!

Charlie, Finn and Ryan burst into the room with May-li and the others just behind.

There was utter pandemonium as everyone tried to talk over each other. Jody grinned as she looked around, it was chaos in the DG as usual but that's the way she liked it. Surrounded by friends, by people she loved and cared about, by people who understood her, by her real family.
