(Ryder's POV)
I watched her as she sat down in the pleather seats and stared out the window. She seemed quite interested in watching the clouds move past the glass as we flew through the sky. The way the moonlight reflected on her face, made her look paler. She must have been thinking about something really hard, because he nose wrinkled up and she pursed her lips together. She looked really cute when she was thinking, but I couldn't help the chuckle that made it out of my mouth. Her focus snapped to me and her eyes went wide. "What?" I clicked my tongue, "Your nose wrinkles and your lips purse when you're thinking about something. What were you thinking about?"She blushed and lowered her head. I laughed, "Why are you blushing, it was just a question."
I cleared my throat after a few minutes of awkward silence between us. "I wasn't blushing." She mumbled. She scowled and continued to look out the window. A little while later, one of the female attendants came back and asked, "Is there anything you would like for me to get you, sir?" Sky looked away from the window and glanced between us. Obviously uninterested, she returned to the window. I flicked to fingers, motioning for the woman to bend down. I whispered in her ear, "Could you bring us some bacon and a couple bottles of my oldest scotch?" She looked at me strangely, then nodded. She left through the doors and Sky looked at me. "What did she want?" There was a hint of jealousy in her voice, like she didn't like that another woman was near me. I was going to take advantage of this. She still hasn't paid for the comment she made earlier.
I shook my head, "She was just wanting to know when I would be available for.... A discussion." Her eyes widened, she knew exactly what I meant. Of course, this was a blatant lie. I would never want to sleep with Audrie, she's my most trusted servant and sleeping with her, would make her contract void. I didn't want to do that. She bit her bottom lip and went back to looking out the window, at the stars and the bright moon. I watched her intently, until Audrie returned with the plate of food. Right before she entered the room, Sky's head perked up. I knew she could smell the bacon. Audrie opened the door and Sky spotted the plate. "Sky, I'd like you to meet Audrie. She will be our attendant while we fly." She nodded as Audrie bowed low, lower than she does for me actually. Sky pointed to the plate on the table, "What's that?"I grinned, "Just a little treat for the little wolf."
Audrie next to me stiffened. "Audrie, dear, would you show Sky here, what is for dinner?"She bowed her head and lifted the lid on the platter. "Oh!" Sky yelped. Her eyes widened at the sight of the huge plate, piled to the point of falling over, with dark, crispy bacon. She looked at me, Audrie, the bacon, then back at me. I laughed, "Are you just going to drool over it, or are you going to eat it?" Audrie raised an eyebrow in confusion. Sky didn't hesitate for another second before she buried her hands in the plate and brought handfuls to her mouth. I stood from my chair and grabbed Audrie's arm, leading her out of the room. Sky hadn't noticed I got up, her eyes were closed and she was enjoying the flavor. I pulled Audrie into the separate room and closed the door. Before I got a single word out, she slapped my arm hard. "Ryder! You didn't tell me you were going to bring a wolf, into the private jet. And might I include; on course to Marku's?!" I shushed her, "Audrie, I've got everything under control. It will be fine, I have some things I need to ask of you, but first."
She nodded, understanding my intentions. She unbuttoned the top of her blouse and revealed her neck to me. My fangs ached, I hadn't fed in over a month and was using an extreme amount of control, in order not to rip her throat out and watch her bleed out on the floor. She bent her neck to the side and her hand fell to her side. I hovered over her neck, before biting down. She gasped at the pressure, but this was normal for her. Every week or two, I would come to her just for this reason. That's mostly why she is here on the plane. She's my own personal blood bag, so I don't end up trying to kill everyone on the jet, including Sky. I drank until I was content with her, then released her. I pushed her away and stepped back. I wiped my mouth and grabbed a towel from the rack next to us. I handed it to her, "Thank you, Ryder." I nodded, "I think it would be best to stay out of sight of Sky, at least until we land."
She shook her head in agreement, "Yes, sir." I turned on my heel, feeling much better and returned to Sky. When I got back, she was looking out the window again, but the plate of bacon was picked clean. I smiled deeply, "I see you enjoyed your dinner?" She jumped slightly when I spoke, she must have been thinking again. She blushed and looked down at the ground. "Yeah, I didn't realize how hungry I was. That bacon was really good." I grinned, "I'm glad you enjoyed it." She looked back out the window and sighed. "Sky?" She tilted her head as she looked at me, "Yeah?" "What's wrong? You seem... Bored." She shook her head, "No I'm not bored. I just keep thinking about things. Like how my life has changed over the course of just a few hours. Or my brother, Luca. If I'll ever find him, if I'll ever see his cute, chubby face ever again. I want to be able to know, that in the morning, I'll wake up to him jumping at the end of my bed. Yelling at me to wake up and get him some breakfast because he's going to miss the bus for school. I just want to be normal again, I don't want to me afraid of what's behind the door to yet another bar, as I try to drink away the pain I feel inside, by the loss of my little brother and my parents."
She choked up and wiped her eyes, but she didn't stop there. "I don't want to be afraid anymore. I want to be able to fight, I want to live again. Even if I never see him again, I want to know that I tried and I didn't give up. I kept looking, after so many years of searching, I want that reassurance." I took two big strides and knelt down in front of her. I gathered her in my arms and she cried into my chest. "I'm so sorry, Sky. I'm so fucking sorry." That was all I could say, I couldn't find any other words that seemed to fit. I rubbed her back and she choked back sobs and she wiped her eyes. "I know this isn't something you want to talk about right now, but how long have you been looking for Luca?" She sniffled, "Too damn long." I exhaled and assumed it was as she said, too damn long. I pulled her off my chest and wiped the tears from her cheeks. "I promise you, no matter what, I will help you find your little brother. I will do everything in my power to get him back home safely." She scoffed, "I don't have a home, Ryder. My pack abandoned me, they left me. I was thrown out because I denied that bastard of an Alpha, the pleasure of using me to bare an heir for his stupid ass pack. I will not be returning with Luca there, not ever. Not even if it is my last option. I would rather die at the hands of the vampires in your mansion, then put Luca in that man's hands."
