Mia's POV

Christmas... My favourite day of the year. Aside from the celebration of the birth of Christ, the overwhelming emotions around me always tend to have a positive impact on me. I loved the rush to get gifts for your loved ones, the reunion of families and the joy filled looks on people's faces when they receive gifts. The music, food and snow boosted my mood as well.

'Last Christmas' by Wham! played in the background as I sang along, preparing a fresh batch of gingerbread cookies for everyone. I was dressed in a Christmas onesie with fuzzy slippers and a Santa hat to complete the look.

"Someone woke up in a good mood," Ravi commented as he entered the kitchen. "Merry Christmas, Mia."

"Merry Christmas, Ravi," I replied, my face beaming in joy. "The cookies will be ready soon."

"Great, I'll make a cup a warm cocoa then."

"Make that two!" Zuri exclaimed, joining us. "Merry Christmas, guys."

"Merry Christmas."

"Emma's still asleep?" I asked.

"No, she's applying her makeup right now. Where's Jessie?"

"Probably doing the same."

With my gloves on, I removed the cookies and placed them on the counter, allowing them to cool off. I made a cup of herbal tea before sitting with the two Ross siblings.

"Which Christmas movie are we planning to watch today?" I asked, taking a sip of my tea.

"Home Alone I think," Zuri replied as Ravi shrugged.

Bertram, Emma, Jessie and Luke came shortly after. Bertram missed his flight two days ago and was forced to spend Christmas with us. I'm pretty sure that he'll escape before New Year. We exchanged greetings and they helped themselves to some cookies.

"Who made this?" Luke asked, still chewing.

I internally gagged before raising my hand.

"You're so multitalented, it's unfair."

"You're welcome."

We prepared the remaining snacks and went to the movie room. I wrapped myself with a blanket as I got comfortable in the chair. The lights dimmed and movie began to play.

Throughout the movie, I could feel myself drifting off but I fought to remain awake. I woke up early just to make the people around me happy and squeeze in some time to call my family. My eyes grew heavier as the movie approached the climax. Deciding to give in, I closed my eyes, welcoming a deep slumber.

As I slowly regained consciousness, I heard voices surrounding me. I could tell it was Emma and Luke. I was lying down on a familiar flat but comfortable surface. "Were they really able to carry me back to my room?" I thought in disbelief.

"Are you sure she's okay? She's been asleep for six hours," Emma asked, the worry evident in her voice.

"Why wouldn't she be? She's breathing normally and her pulse is beating," Luke replied and I could sense the eye roll that followed his reply. "Stop worrying. She's fine," he added, pushing the stray hair off my face.

"Okay," Emma breathed out. "I'll be back. The door opened before closing again, indicating that Luke and I were alone.

"You can open your eyes now," he said with a slight chuckle.
