Mia's POV

Thank you for 8K + Views♥️

Today is Jessie's birthday and the Ross Kids, Bertram, and I are planning a surprise party for her. It would be quite difficult to hide it from her but so far, we're doing a pretty good job.

We've been planning it for almost a week and she still has no clue about it.

Tony took Jessie out for the day to help us with our plan. The bad thing is that we pretended to forget her birthday and acted oblivious about it which made her mad and she ended up storming out of the house, muttering about how no one cares about her. Those words ached my heart but I had to execute the plan.

Currently, we were decorating the rooftop, our venue for the party. The party is cowboy themed cause everyone knows that Jessie is a Texas girl at heart. The food and drinks were on the way and the cake will arrive an hour before the party starts.

We returned to the penthouse and placed our gifts in her room. Talia and Sage walked in and Sage pecked Ravi's cheek before sitting beside him.

Yes, Ravi and Sage are officially dating. Their personalities are different but they balance each other out. They're goals.

I texted Shane to ask if he's still coming to spend the day with us and he replied saying he can't because he's busy. I ignored the feeling of sadness that threatened to overwhelm me and started to converse with my friends.

The food and drinks arrived and we arranged it before going to the mall to pass time as Emma suggested.

As we explored the mall, Emma and Zuri kept glancing at each other then looking at me. I started to get annoyed so I pulled them aside.

"Why do you guys keep staring at me like that?" I hissed.

"Look ahead of you," they said in unison.

I took a look ahead and saw Talia and Luke holding hands, engaging in a deep conversation. I squinted my eyes at them, not knowing how to feel.

"So? What does it have to do with me?" I asked, confused by their actions.

"Wow, so Lia is really over?" they sulked.

"Lia? Who the hell is Lia?"

"You and Luke's ship name, duh," they said as if its obvious.

"There was no ship to begin with."

"So you're trying to say that there was no chemistry between you guys?"

I bit my tongue slightly, thinking on how to answer the question. I couldn't bring myself to say no cause that is a huge lie. The Ross sisters gave each other a knowing look which dissolved their question.

"Does Talia know that Luke used to like you?"

"Talia doesn't know that Luke used to like me so I don't think there's going to be a problem," I shrugged.

"Okay, if you say so. "

We rejoined with the others and proceeded to buy cowboy outfits for ourselves. The one we bought for Jessie is with Tony so she'll get it from him.

We stopped by the food court and ate pizza while engaging in different conversations. I looked at the time and informed everyone that the cake will arrive soon so we left.

As we entered the apartment, I got a text from Tony informing us that they're on their way home. Shortly after, I received another text from the bakery telling us that the cake won't make it on time. Wow... This is going to be a DISASTER!

I paced around the room, trying not to freak out.  The most essential thing of a birthday party isn't here. Everyone stood quietly, probably thinking of a solution.

"Let's order from somewhere else," Talia suggested.

"It won't arrive on time," I sulked.

"Let's bake one," Luke said. "Jessie loves a home baked cake."

"True."

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go," Ravi commanded.

We rushed to the kitchen and took out all the supplies we needed and started to prepare the cake. There were a lot of arguments regarding the cake which stressed me out completely. After 40 long minutes, the cake was already in the oven.

We went back to the living room and agreed to check on the cake after 20 minutes.  We ended up watching TV and lost track of time...

"Something smells bad," Sage stated.

Everyone looked at her before our eyes went wide. THE CAKE!

We rushed to the kitchen and took out the completely burned cake.

"This is bad," Zuri muttered.

"Let's call Bertram to see if the venue is still in check," Emma said and dialed Bertram as she walked away.

"We'll figure this out, we promise, " Ravi said as he rubbed my shoulder comfortingly.

Emma came back and from her facial expression, I knew something went wrong.

Why did this happen to me? I was just trying to make my sister happy on her birthday and it went south. I was too disappointed with myself and ended up storming into my room, locking the door in the process.

I woke up, realizing that I slept through the drama. I looked at the time and it was 9PM. Wow, I just missed the birthday speech. Knowing that I missed the important parts of the celebration,  I took my own time to wear my costume and fix my hair. I walked out of my room and headed to the rooftop.

Mentally preparing myself for the worst, I was met with the exact opposite. The party was in full swing! Jessie rushed to me and attacked me with a massive bear hug.

"I heard about what you had to go through for the past weeks to make my birthday party perfect and after hearing today's drama, I realized how much you love and care for me. Thank you so much Mia, you're the best sister anyone could ask for."

I teared up a little after hearing her speech. She was proud of me.

She led me to the others and we ate, danced, and overall, I had a good time.

I'm really sorry for not updating, I was busy with school and all that and I'm sorry that the chapter isn't long enough but I tried. Thanks for reading ♥️
