Wow, it's been more than a month since I updated.

And updates will probably continue to be like this.

School is really destroying me😅

This chapter is really small, so I apologize for that also.

I'm sorry for being a bad author...

Jimin bolts out of his sleep, whacking my arm with his head. I groan, that pain only adding to my injuries.

"If you wanted to wake me up, you could've just tapped me."

He holds a finger to his lips.

Now I'm on alert.

"Did you hear something?" He whispers.

I furrow my eyebrows. It's usually me that hears something before him, but I didn't hear anything this time. We stay still for a long moment. I hear the churning sound of the engines along the water, and a car now and then. I look at Jimin, who's just as alert as me.

"What did you hear the first time?"

"It sounded like....gurgling." He whispers back.

As if on cue, I hear footsteps and a voice approaching to the pier that sat above us. We shrink further into the shadows, keeping each other near to keep us well hidden. It's a man's voice, and his footsteps seem heavy. I soon realize that the man wasn't alone. A pair of street guards. Jimin pushes himself more until his back reaches a hard surface. I sit in front of him, listening intently.

"The disease popped up in another area this time. Thirty minutes away I believe." one of the police say.

"I've never heard of it showing up there..." says the other.

"It must be getting stronger. And faster. A big spread."

"What are they gonna do?"

I try to hear more, but their footsteps grow quiet and their voices are only murmurs. I take a long sigh. What if the strange mark on my mother's door means that they're infected with this spread? What will the Premier do about it?

"Kook..." Jimin whispers.

I look at him. He turns around so his back now faces the lake. He points to the hard surface we sat against. When I turn around, i see what he's pointing to. The surface was a sheet of metal, a dent etched into it due to our force. Jimin turns towards me.

"It's hollow."

"Hollow?"

I put my ear against the sheet, and a swarm of sound hits me— the gurgling sound Jimin heard from earlier. This isn't just a plain piece of metal. I look closer, and notice symbols carved into its surface.

One is a sketch of the government's flag, the other....

A small red number...
