The next morning, Maks and I slept in until 12:30. We didn't get to do this often and we were both exhausted.

I could smell freshly scrambled eggs and orange juice. Sitting up and rubbing my eyes, I realized that Maks was eating in bed next to me.

"Goodmorning Mer-bear. How'd you sleep?" He was reading the newspaper and eating a blueberry bagel with butter on it.

"Morning, good I guess. You?" I reached for a piece of bacon but he slapped my hand. I looked at him confused.

"Okay, you kept moving last night and you kinda pushed me outta bed." He chuckled as he handed me my own tray of food. They were identical except his had Mr. written on it and mine had Mrs. Mine also had a freshly picked pink rose in a small vase.

"Oops sorry." I sipped my orange juice and bit into a piece of crunchy bacon.

"You only kick when you're thinking about something, is everything okay?" He rubbed my back as I almost choked on my bacon.

"Yeah, everything is great." Maks gently pulled me towards him and kissed me roughly, almost spilling our food onto the floor. I moaned into his mouth as he laid me down, him on top.

We pulled away for air and smiled.

"What was that all about?" I asked, biting my lip.

"Just because I wanted to kiss you and I didn't get to see you all day yesterday." I giggled and we returned to eating breakfast.

That night...

Maks' POV

While Meryl was getting ready, her phone went off. It was a text from a guy named Jason.

Hey, I can't wait to see you tonight. 😏

I tried to contain my fury, was Meryl cheating on me?

For a minute I pushed the thought away and calmed down. But, when I scrolled up to find a text that said:

Hey, this is Jason. Your mom gave me your number. We didn't really decide on when or where we were going... I know it's late. Let me know where you wanna go. ;) btw I'm excited for our date.

I lost it. She really was going on a date tonight. Earlier, she'd told me she was going out to dinner with Brooke. She'd lied to me...

Before I could calm myself down, Meryl emerged from the bathroom looking amazing. My admiration was again replaced with anger.

"What the hell is this, Mer!?" I shoved the phone in her face and her jaw dropped.

"It's nothing Maks! He's just a friend." She snatched the phone from my hands and put her things into her clutch.

"Clearly he doesn't know that! Who is this guy!? Does he even know you're married to me!?" I was now screaming.

"He's my high school sweetheart and we are going to dinner to catch up! Why is this such a big deal!?" She was screaming back at me just as loud.

"Why is this such a big deal!? I'll tell you why this is a big deal! You're married, to me! And you think you can go out on dates with other men!?" Meryl rolled her eyes and walked downstairs.

"You're really ridiculous, you know that? He's just a friend! It's not a romantic date and both of us know that. I would never do that to you, I love you, Maks! What makes you think otherwise!?" She threw a dirty pan into the sink as she screamed at me.

"The fact that you didn't tell him about me! You didn't even mention me!"

"Well, the whole nation saw photos of us all over the magazines on our wedding day! I figured he knew! What am I supposed to say? Oh by the way, I have a husband at home named Maksim? No, everyone knows that we've been married since June! I thought he knew!"

"Clearly he didn't!" I threw my hands into the air and let them return to my sides.

"Oh well! The fact of the matter is, I am going out to dinner with my ex and you're so jealous that you can't contain yourself! Goodbye Maksim!" She slammed the front door and drove away.
