chapter 5

Gabby's pov

Toby walked me home. Once I said goodbye he leaned in and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight" he said in a soft voice. I smiled and walked towards my door. I turn my head and waved. He waved back at me. I finally walked into my house. I see my dad sitting on the couch and my brother next to him. I walk in quietly. "Gabby" I hear Marcus call out. Crap. I turn and give him an innocent smile. I see my dad turn his head towards me. He then gets up. "Where the hell have you been" he says in a harsh voice. My smile went away. " I thought you were coming home late tonight." I said. He glares at me " I came home early. But that doesn't mean you can just leave whenever you want when I'm not home." I look at him, "I came home to warn mom that I was going out but she wasn't home." I can see the anger in his eyes. " so u couldn't wait till she came home!" I look at him with anger " says the man that's never home because he's at work." I said in a mocking voice. He starts to yell, " Don't bring my work into this. I do my best to come home often but sometimes I can't!" I look away from him. "Well your not doing a good job with that." I mumble running up the stairs. I didn't turn around to look at him but I can tell that his face is in shock."Gabby! Gabby Blackbird! get down here! Don't walk away from me young lady!" I can hear him still yelling at me from behind. I can feel my eyes tearing up. I run into my room and jump on my bed crying into my pillow. I eventually cry myself to sleep.

Dad? " Why is mommy in the hospital daddy?" I asked in a concern voice. "Mommy isn't feeling well." He said with his head in his hand. Marcus walks up to me and holds my hand. I shiver to his cold hand. A doctor walked out of the room that mommy was in. He walked up to my daddy. I let go of Marcus and ran up to listen to their conversation. "She has cancer."

My father looked at him in shock. "Can you do anything to help her. Anything at all." The doctor looked down. "I'm sorry." I pull on his sleeve "Daddy, what's going to happen to mommy?" I asked looking into his teary eyes. "Gabby will you promise me something" he said stooping down to my level. I nodded. "will you take care of mommy when I'm gone, and that you won't ever leave her. Ever?" I look at him and hug him tightly."I promise"

I woke up to my alarm going off. Ugh five more minutes. I turn to my clock to check the time. 8:40. Crap I'm going to be late. I jump out of bed and run to my wardrobe and pull out a random outfit. I then put my long brown hair up in a pony tail, then brush my teeth and run out of my room.

I see my mom making some breakfast. So I run up to her give her a kiss on the cheek, grab my backpack and hover board and run out of the house. I jump on my board and ride it to school as fast as I can. I can see Toby standing in the front entrance. He looks at me and waves. I wave back at him. I then start losing my balance and fall off the board into a pair of arms. I look up to see who caught me from falling. Toby was holding me. "Well good morning beautiful." he says helping me up. I smile and get out of his grasp. "how did you now that I was going to fall." He says smiling "I saw you losing your balance so I ran to catch you." I smile back and lean in to kiss him but was interrupted by the bell. "we should get going." I said gesturing him to come with me to class. He nods and we walk in.

~~~Later that day.

Toby's pov

Lunch finally. I ran to the cafeteria to see Gabby. I see her sitting with her friends. I walk over smiling at her. She turns to me and smiles. She then gestures me to come and sit next to her. So I did. Her friends were giggling like crazy. I sat down next to her with everyone staring at me. She smiles. I smile back and lean in to give her a kiss. She also leans in and our lips press together. She then breaks the kiss and turns to her friends in shock. I then turn and see Justin glaring at me. "So your dating now." Natalie says wide-eyed She nods. I put my arm around her and scoot her closer to me. I'm surprised that a teacher hasn't done anything to stop me. Gabby breaks the silence and glared at Natalie, laura, and Megan. "So why did you guys embarrass me yesterday when you talked to Toby?" Dang she looks upset. but beautiful at the same time. Aww she's so cute.

"Really we told you not to tell her" I heard Laura yell and broke my thoughts. "I'm sorry she got it out of me." I responded scratching the back of my head with my open arm. "well we got you two together didn't we." Megan said with sass in her voice. "No not really but at least you tried to help right Gabby" I said pulling her close trying to calm her down. "I guess" she said frowning. The bell rang. So we walked back to our classes. I walked Gabby to her class. I could sense someone glaring at me. I turn and see Justin glaring at me. So I toke off my arm over Gabby and put my arm to my side. Gabby turned her head towards me and she starts to hold my hand. I start walking faster and pull Gabby closer to me. We get to her class and stop next to the door. She looks straight into my green, hazuly eyes. She kisses my cheek. She looks back into my eyes. "What's wrong." She says with worry in her eyes. "Nothing I'm fine. Now you should go to class before your late." I said in a soft voice. She nods and walks into the classroom. I start walking to my class. I hope Justin isn't jealous.
