chapter 12

Gabbys pov

God this has to be a dream. I was frozen in shook more than fear. Its those bots from hell. But why are they doing this. "Gabby" I unfroze myself and turn around to Justin. "Gabby I don't want to let you go but if this is what you want." He takes out a walky talky and hands it to me. "Where did you get this?" I ask. "I have it just for emergencies." I nod and give him a hug. "Contact us when your somewhere safe." I nod and start running towards the entrance of the building. I look back for a moment and see them getting into the truck. I smile then run into the school. "Toby, Toby where are you?" I yell running everywhere. I wasn't paying attention and bump into someone. I look up and see Mr. Geraci yelling at people to leave the building. "Gabby you need to leave, now." He says in a firm tone. "But I need to find Toby." I say trying to get out of his way. He grabs my arm to stop me, "Gabby he ran out looking for you." I look at him and yank my arm out of his grasp, "Which way did he go." He points towards the entrance. Grr I'm just going in circles. I run back towards the entrance. "Gabby!" I turn my head towards Mr. Geraci, "find him and stay safe." I see Ms. Alice run towards him and stays be his side. I nod then start running again. I grab my board and ride it threw the town. My board hits a large rock making me fall over. I cringe in pain holding my arm that hit the ground too hard breaking my fall. I look up watching everything around me. There were machines destroying everything in their way. I watch them closely, and notice something. Their killing people! The walking microwaves were blasting people into nothingness. Raise of light were blasting from there hands shooting innocent people into dust. I finally stand up still holding my wounded arm running and looking around for Toby. While running I notice I'm close to my street. I look over to it remembering something. "This was in my dream" I mumble  to myself. "Gabby!" I hear a familiar voice call to me. I turn towards the voice and see Toby running towards me. "Toby!" I yell in relief. I run towards him. Immediately he grabs onto  my hand. Knowing what will happen I yank my arm and start running to my house. "Mom!" I yell getting closer and closer. "Gabby! No!" Toby tackles me to the ground. "No let go of me." I yell struggling to leave his grasp. I look up towards the sky and see a bolder heading towards the house. I elbow Toby and run towards the house hoping she's not in there. Before I can make it the bolder hits the house making a crashing sound. I stop myself from shock. "MOTHER!" I yell a blood-curdling scream and fall to my knees with tears in my eyes. I can feel myself getting dizzy. My vision starts getting blurry. I look around and hear screams, crying , crashes. Then everything turned black. 

I woke up in a car. "Wha-" I sit up looking at my surroundings. "Gabby! Thank God, you have to stop fainting on me, your making me worry more." Was that just a dream? I look out the window and don't recognize where we are. "Where are we?" I tilt my head a bit. "We're in LA ." I jump in my seat to his answer. LA is 2 hours away from the town. Why did he take me here. I remember my dream. Hot tears start to form. "Toby I had an awful dream." He gulped. "What about love." I turn to him with tears streaming down my cheeks. "That wasn't a dream was it?" He pulls the car over. He hugs me tightly. "Your brother and I made an agreement and we are going to meet him at a motel not far from here." He picks up my chin and wipes tears from my eyes. "And my mother?" He smiles softly, "Marcus said that he found her safe in the grocery store. She's probably with him safe and on their way here." I give him a weak smile and hug him tighter. I let go of him still sniffling . "Hey, um do you mind if um I have some friends with me." He said scratching the back of his neck. "Um why are you asking." He gives me a nervous smile. "Well..." he steps out of the car and walks to the back of his truck. I stare at him confused and I finally decide to follow. He stands behind the truck and waits for me to stand next to him. I stare at him until he speaks. "So um how are you." He's says nervously. I cross my arms and tap my left foot annoyed, "Toby if  your going to play dumb I'm going back in the truck." "No Gabby wait I just wanted to-" he was cut off by a sneeze from the blanket in his trunk. "Did that blanket just sneeze?" I tilt my head. "Um surprise." Toby says in a nervous tone. I yank the blanket and see three people laying still on the truck. There was two little boys and an older girl. The girl had black long hair and green eyes, the other to where younger than her. One boy had dark brown hair and blue eyes. The other boy also had brown hair and blue eyes but he seemed a bit older than the younger boy. "Hi" the younger boy said in a squeaky and cheerful tone. "Hi?" I say back to the child. "Excuse us." I say with a small smile. The older girl nods, "oh yeah no problem." I nod back and gently put the blanket back over them. I turn to Toby glaring at him. I can tell he was trying to run back into the car while I was examining the others. I run up to him and grab him from the back of his shirt. "Heh you think you're going to get away that easy." I growl at him. "I'm sorry I should have told you sooner but-!" "But?!" I clench the shirt tighter from his neck. "But you looked so cute when you were asleep. Ow! And and they were in trouble so I helped them out." I narrow my eyes. I loosen my grip on his shirt but I grab his arm and twist it behind his back. "Ow that hurts." He says hissing. "Its not suppost too tickle." I chuckle a bit. "Its ok, you people done enough to help us. My brothers and I are very grateful for that. Thank you." The older girl said in a soft voice. She jumps out of the truck and helps her brothers out. "Come along boys we don't want to bother this nice couple any longer." She grabs their hands and start walking away. "sister Gen I'm hungry." The younger boy whines. She stops and stoops down to his level and rubs his cheek "Yes I know but we have little money. We can find a rich house and dig threw their trash ok." I let go of Toby. He tries to run back into the car but i grab him by the shirt again before he can reach the door handle. Ugh the guilt trick. It never works on me but, this Gen girls good. "Wait!" I yell trying to get their attention. They turn around. The younger boy tilts his head cutely. "One meal!" I say firmly. "I'm sorry." Gen says. "One meal we will buy you one meal I don't want you to eat garbage, and" I play with my shirt. "And you can stay with us for one night." I put my indects finger up. Their eyes lit up and they smile brightly. The younger boy runs up to me and hugs my leg "thank you thank you." He yells out. The other two walk up to me. Gen grabs my hands and shake them making me let go of Toby. "Thank you so much your so kind." Toby whispers behind me, "that was kindness." I hit him in the arm "shut up." I say quietly so only he would her me. "I'm Aden" the younger boy yells cheerfully. "I'm Genevive and this is Kaido. He's a bit shy." She points to the boy hiding behind her leg. I wave at the and give them a soft smile. "I'm Gabriela and this is Toby. Please call me Gabby." She nods. "Are you siblings" Toby asks curious. "Oh no were cousins. We just call each other brothers and sister" She gives us a friendly smile. "Ok guys we should get going before it gets dark." Toby warns. Gen and her cousins hop back into the back of the truck. Toby opens the door for me I still glare at him from earlier. He gets in when everyone is settled in. I sigh from how exhausted I was. "What's wrong babe." I narrow my eyes. He sighs "ok ok you're still mad about not telling you I get that, but they needed help she has two young children I couldn't just leave them there to die." I sigh "I guess you're right. Eww I said that you're right" he chuckles and holds my hand with his free one. I smile and lean my head on his shoulder.

Time skip~~~~~~

Gabbys pov.

We finally get to the motel, but it wasn't what I thought it would be. It looked worn down. There was a school bus thrown into the side of it. The other side wasn't as bad but it looked worn out like a pair of jeans you wear for more than a weak (Sorry I couldn't help that's what I think of when it says worn out.) On the streets there were abandon cars and piles of clothing laying on the ground. And the stench was unbearable. We get out of the car and stared at our surroundings. Did my father do this? "Gabby come on." Toby yells at me to get back in the car. While I was going to get back into the car I heard a bang. It came from the motel. I started to walk towards the noise. Yeah yeah never walk towards the noise because that's where the little girl with the creepy dall in her hands is. Yeah I heard it before but this was different. I kept walking towards it. "Gabby come back we have to go!" Toby yells. As I got closer I heard voices. That just made me want to get closer. As I got closer the voices sounded familiar. "Gabby come back." I turn to Toby. I shack my head no. "Gabby?!" I heard my name but it wasn't Toby, I came from behind me. Turn my head towards the familiar voice. Tears filled up in my eyes from the person that was in front of me.
