Invasion

chapter 7

Gabby's pov.

"This place is beautiful Toby. I didn't think there were any lakes near by." He chuckles. "Ya my sister used to bring me here when I was younger." I'm smiled at him and wrapped my arms around his neck. "How come I haven't met her." He frowns putting my arms to my side and looks away. "She past away a couple days before my 8th birthday." I walked up to him an gave him a huge."I'm sorry." He looks at me and smiles "No its fine, let's just have fun ok." I nod. Toby took my hand and pulled me towards a tree. He set a blanket down and we sat down. He put an arm around me and we just talked. He made me laugh. I made him laugh. It was perfect, until the clouds came in. Toby looked at me. "Hey are you hungry?" I nodded my head. He smiled and looked around for the food basket. "Crap" I turn my head towards him " what's wrong" I said tilting my head. " I forgot the basket in the truck, would you mind if I'll go get and you stay here." He said with his head in his palm. "Umm aww, sure." I gulped. "Just please come back quickly." I said watching him get up. He nodded and started running into the woods. I looked up at the sky and see the dark clouds. I look back at the lake and see the reflection of flashing lights in the clear water. I then see water droplets coming down from the sky. "Oh no please. Not the sound." I suddenly hear thunder. The sound of it made me jump. "No. No, oh dear God please no." I put my legs up to my chest. I feel hot tears streaming down my cheeks. I then imediatlly jump up at the sight of lightning flash in front of me. I can't stay here. Toby please forgive me.

Toby's pov

"Dang it. Its starting to rain" I run to the spot we were in with the basket in my hands. Once I get to the spot we were sitting I saw no one there. The blanket was on the ground but Gabby wasn't sitting there. Crap where's Gabby. I left the stuff there and I ran looking for Gabby. "Gabby!" I yelled her name several times. There was no response. I worried even more. I ran and ran until I found a small abandoned cabin. I stopped so I can catch my breath. I examined the cabin. The door was opened slightly and the porch had a small puddle of water leading inside. I walked in slowly. "Gabby? Gabby are you in here?" I said walking into a room with a large wardrobe. I suddenly hear crying coming from inside the wardrobe. I walked towards it and open it softly. I look inside and see Gabby in the corner of the wardrobe shivering and whimpering. "Gabby" she carefully looks up at me. "are you afraid of thunder and lightning?" She puts her head back in her knees and covers her ears to prevent her from listening to the thunder. I walk into the wardrobe and sit next to her. I take off my sweater and put it over her. I then take out my phone and a pair of head phones, put them on her and start playing soft music. She leans on me and I pull her closer to comfort her. She nuzzels her head into my neck and closes her eyes. I kiss her on top of the head and cuddle with her. "Thank you." She says smiling with her eyes still closed. "I love you." That's all she said before she fell sound asleep. I was in shock for a moment at what she said, but I then smiled "I love you too."
