Normani was not paying much attention to Lauren. She knew what all Lauren was saying. She knew that her sister was just concerned about her, but she did not like to listen to all of it again and again; though she liked it. It meant Lauren cared so much about her.
She just heard bits and pieces of Lauren's 15 minutes speech before school.
"Try to make friends"
"Don't let anyone do anything you don't want."
"Never be afraid."
"Tell me if something's wrong and don't hide anything from me."
And the most important thing which mattered to Normani.
"I am always here."
'And she has proven it right, many times till now.' Normani thought
Normani knew that Lauren was aware that she wasn't paying 100% attention to whatever the latina was speaking but still they were there patiently sitting with each other for their own satisfaction.
After it finished Lauren hugged her tightly because Lauren felt that she forgot about Normani the day prior about their meeting in cafeteria. Not only that, Lauren didn't even think about Normani after coming home from school till this morning which hasn't happened in a long time.
"I love you, you know that right?" Lauren asked a little louder and Normani understood that she needed more than a nod for this.
"Laur, spending one day without me doesn't mean you don't love me. I told you, I didn't even go to cafeteria yesterday in break. I wanted to be alone and I was feeling the same at home."
"Why?" Lauren asked but Normani just shrugged. She sighed heavily knowing she wasn't getting an answer from the dark skinned girl. "Will you meet me today, in break?"
"That depends."
"On what?" Lauren asked shaking her head, knowing the answer wasn't going to be in her favour.
"On the answer to a question." Normani said looking at Lauren with full interest unlike before. "Where were you if you weren't in the cafeteria yesterday? Did you find a new hiding place to spend lunch time? Are you gonna let me be there?"
Lauren smiled looking at Normani's face not caring that the real answer to the question may let out things she didn't want to discuss about yet "That's not one question, you know."
Before Normani could say anything, her phone rang. It was her alarm. She couldn't be a minute late after that.
"Saved by the bell." Lauren laughed.
"Only for now" Normani said before kissing Lauren's cheek and leaving the car.
Normani always went inside the school a little earlier than Lauren because she liked empty hallways. Though both of the sisters came in one car to the school but they spent the entire school day separately as per Normani's request.
They did the same in their previous school which was a boarding. The school part they spent separately but the free time was like there sibling family time.
Lauren looked at Normani as she entered the big doors of the school hallway. She was startled because of the loud tap on the window of the car.
She was startled when someone knocked on her window loudly. She rolled it down with a sigh of relief "Hi Dinah"
"Don't hi me" The blonde said unlocking the door herself and opening it "Where the hell were you yesterday at lunch?"
The tone of Dinah made her remember another thing which she was supposed to do but didn't as it slipped out of her mind.
