The door slammed open, swirling eddies of snow bursting into the cabin, framing the tall form of Hunter in the door.
I sprang up from my chair by the fireplace, "Hunter, what are you doing here? I thought you'd be halfway to Canada by now!"
He strode inside, but even as the chill wind of winter gusted in after him, I felt the heat in his eyes burn to my toes.
"The jewel? Do you have it?! Or did you give it to good-for-nothing Roger Rogueman?"
I stood up, unable to look at him. "I...I don't know what you're talking about."
His arms caught around my waist, forcing me to look into his deep eyes.
"Tell me the truth!"
I pressed my lips into a line, trying to seal in the forbidden truth. I couldn't- this wasn't-

Sutton jumped at the sudden noise of her phone vibrating. She'd been writing like crazy the past few hours; she'd barely seen the time fly by. Now she set down her notebook and smiled as she picked up her phone. She knew if she didn't text her best friend Lia right away she would get a barrage of texts asking if she was okay, or if she'd been kidnapped or stranded in a mountain cave and needed to be rescued.
Sutton jumped off the bed, pacing over to the window and watching the snow fall through the sky, smiling as she thought of Marius's blue eyes. Her phone buzzed again.
Sutton laughed, but then paused.... There was something very different about Marius, something reserved, like he gaurded his heart carefully. But a Prince? That seemed.... actually it seemed both plausible and something straight out of a romance novel.
Sutton smiled, already picturing her best freind shrieking at her text. Sure enough the phone buzzed again.
Sutton paused, and this time she thought about Wyatt, his crooked smile and outgoing, fun personality.
But Sutton was gone, her phone left on her bed, disappearing out into the night to meet the man she knew she had to see.
