A/N:
I never thought something like this would happen to me. I strongly advise ANYBODY traveling to a large city to be with SEVERAL people and not just one other person.-

We went to a market after we went to a Weidnachtsmarket (Christmas Market with my german class) and I was with a group with 3 other sophomores and my friend. We split up and lost each other, i was with my friend and we figured the boys went to subway.

We walked around the Weidnachtsmarket for a bit and go to a nearby McDonald's. We went in there, got a mocha frappe, McDouble, and a large fry. We sat down in a corner near an outlet so I could charge my phone. On the other end of the long bar-like table was this man but I didn't bother to worry about him since he seemed like he'd keep to himself.
We ate, talked about her boyfriend, people in our grade, etc. She gets up, and she isn't wearing her long coat and she's wearing Grey leggings with a black longsleeve that doesn't cover her but. I noticed that the guy at the end of the table (we guessed he was French) STARE at her butt for literally 10+ seconds while mumbling stuff. I could hear him catcalling her a bit. I stand next to her ear and whisper "we need to get the fuck out of here right now."

I was honestly terrified. She grabbed her coat, and the man stood up. He started complaining, partly in English. (Idk if he was complaining or still catcalling, since I don't speak French, also we were the only people in this part of the McDonald's) and he started getting closer towards us, his voice getting louder., and it looked like he was gonna start something. She immediately fast-walks away, and I saw a terrified look on her face. I grab my phone and charger, gathered EVERYTHING so this man wouldn't take it, and followed her to hide in the back of the McDonald's.

We saw him go outside and look around. Me and her just stood there crying for a minute, not knowing what to do because he was waiting outside for us. We texted the other people of our group, telling them to hurry and that there's a guy harassing us. She texted her boyfriend, but I had to text our group because she was shaking too much to type. I told her not to call her mom so we wouldn't get her worried because I was still unsure of the situation. We sat in the back alone, crying, waiting for the guys in our group to get to our McDonald's.

I kept checking the doorway to see if the boys were there yet, and if the French guy was there still. The French guy was for the entire time. My friend was silently crying the entire time, same for me. Finally, the 3 of them make it into the McDonald's and walk to us.

We explain them the situation and I don't even think they took it very seriously. I literally cried telling them it and they basically took it as a joke. I didn't care at this point, I was just happy we had people that could "guard" us and protect us.

They ordered McDonald's too. We left, and I caught eye contact with the guy (he was sitting at the same spot as when he harassed us) and I just walked faster and faster. We were still terrified at this point, and for hours we would look in every direction to make sure he wasn't following us.

We finally forgot about it and had fun with them, making sure we WOULDN'T be without them.

We went to the Cheesecake Factory, Victoria's Secret (they basically just checked out thick mannequins, waiting for us to finish buying underwear lmfao), lush, and a bunch of other stores. We sat in a Subway for like 2 hours, just talking, eating subs, just stuff random kids would do.

When they're all in the bathroom, my friend tells me something like "Dude, he had one hand in his pocket and he was about to pull something out, that's why I left so fast." And I just sat there in silence for a minute trying not to cry n stuff (I know I sound dramatic, especially if you've never had something like this happen to you, but I've been messed up this entire day. I'm at home rn and i still want to cry about it. I never want to go to a McDonald's again. Just know that we were both messed up the entire day because of it, it was traumatic...)

On a brighter note, I am a lot closer with those 3 guys (we were already close) and it was hands down the most fun I've had my entire life with friends. I don't plan on doing the Chicago german trip next year because of what happened.

Sorry for the long post but it's been messing me up so I had to say something. Idk I just keep asking myself things like "what if he was gonna stab you?" Or things like "what would've happened if he kept following us?"

I just feel like this thing is all my fault because I was the one who wanted to go to McDonald's. I feel so sorry to my friend because she had the worse experience since she was pretty much the target of the man. I'm so incredibly thankful I had friends that could come help and at least be there with us so we weren't alone.

Please, if you're ever in a city, HAVE 4+ PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP. Put guys in it. I've noticed that old guys won't hit on a group with guys and girls compared to a group of 2 young girls. I really hope this never happens to any of you. Please stay safe and be careful of your surroundings xx
