Chapter 3 - Satisfied

"Maria! Hurry up!" Theodosia yelled to her daydreaming room-mate. "Huh? Oh- Right." Maria snapped out of her daze and followed Theodosia out of their dorm. This has been happening a lot lately. Maria would zone out at the most random times and start to tear up. Theodosia was beginning to get worried, but mistook it as stress. They walked to the Schuyler dorm in silence. Maria stared blankly at the floor as Theodosia took worried glances at her dorm mate. 

They arrived at the Schuyler dorm in no time and were greeted by an overly-enthusiastic Peggy Schuyler. She lit up and dragged them inside, literally, before giving them time to respond. She brought them to the living room and they dropped their stuff on the couch. 

"Okay! What movi-" Angelica asked. 

"Mean Girls!" Peggy screamed, cutting Angelica off, as the rest of the girls giggled. Angelica rolled her eyes and grabbed the remote to put on 'Mean Girls'.

Not even 20 minutes of the movie, Peggy's stomach interrupted the silence by growling. We laughed as Angelica sighed and stood up. 

"I'll go to the store. Anyone wanna come with?" She asked. Theodosia nodded and Peggy ran out of the room leaving Angelica and Theodosia behind. They sighed before going out of the dorm to try to tame a loose Peggy Schuyler. This left Maria behind. Along with Eliza. 

Maria stayed still as a deafening silence lurked around the two girls. 

"Maria?" Eliza asked, but there was no response. Eliza grew worried. "Why aren't you talking to me?"

This was when Maria snapped.

"You know damn well, why." She responded, venom dripping with every word. "No I don't. So how about you actually tell me for once, instead of ignoring me!" Eliza yelled back. Maria glared at her, "I'm ignoring you!? You're the one who's been ignoring me since the beginning!" She continued with tears forming in the corners of her eyes, "Every single time I try to convince you, you never listen! You're being selfish 'Liza! You know for a fact Alexander's not your soulmate, so why are you still doing this, huh!?" Eliza glared back, "How am I supposed to know he's not my soulmate?! News Flash! Not everyone can see that damned string! Not everyone is a freak like you!"She yelled stomping into her dorm room.

These words hit Maria like a hurricane. A hurricane that messed with her brain. A hurricane that flooded her senses. A hurricane that poured out of her in he form of tears.

It was like Eliza turned on a tap in Maria and left it to overflow.

The water wouldn't stop. Tears just kept pouring and pouring as Maria helplessly sobbed. After a while, she hurried to scoop up her stuff and wasted no time running out of the door, back to her dorm. She threw her stuff on the floor and bolted to her bed before sinking in the fluffy pillows, letting them comfort her. That was all she needed right now. Comfort. But only her pillows were there, for Eliza wasn't there to provide that comfort.

Eliza opened her door; surprised to see  a disheveled-looking Maria in front of her. "Mari! Are you okay?! What happened!?" She frantically yelled as she let the poor girl inside. She closed the door and sat on the couch, along with Maria.

"J-James. He cheated on me." She sobbed before being engulfed in a hug by Eliza. "Oh, Mari... Please don't cry. I-I hate seeing you like this." She whispered, starting to tear up herself. "You can crash at mine for as long as you need, I'll go cut his balls off." she said, muttering the last part to herself. Maria giggled, "I'd like that." and smiled at her. Eliza smiled back. 

"Hey. You wanna watch 'Legally Blonde' with me?" She asked hopefully. Maria nodded and chuckled at Eliza. Eliza's eyes lit up as she hurriedly put on the movie and grabbed a soft blanket for the two. She sat next to Maria and put the blanket around them.

The two sat in a comfortable silence as the movie played. Maria became sleepy and rested her head on Eliza's shoulder. Making her flustered and red. "I love you 'Liza." She muttered groggily.

"I love you too, Mari." She heard Eliza's voice whisper before dozing off.

Maria thought back to when she was comforted by Eliza. Did anything that happened that night even matter to her? She said 'I love you'. That has to mean something. Right? It was probably platonic. There's no way someone like her could love someone like me. Maria couldn't help but think. More and more negative thoughts circled in her head, making her sob even harder. What was wrong with her? Was she not good enough? Why couldn't she just have what she wants? She couldn't have the perfect  family, nor the perfect upbringing. She was always alone. Not even her siblings cared. When she went to college, she was determined to turn things around.

And they did.

She had people who cared for her. Not like her family. She had her friends. That was her new family.

But she still wasn't able to achieve one thing. Love. Sure her friends loved her, but that was just platonic. She wanted to feel needed and to feel affection towards someone. She thought she loved Eliza at first but mistook it for sexual desire. But when she saw her string led to Eliza she knew she was in love. Who couldn't love Eliza? She was kind, cute and hot, all at the same time. She had guys falling for her left and right. And one of those guys was none other than Alexander Hamilton.

When she heard they were dating, Maria tried to push away her feelings for Eliza. Thus, she believed being in a relationship, with James Reynolds, was the best way to distract her from all the mess in her life. But, oh boy, was she wrong.

The guy turned out to be a cheating bastard. He would bring girls over whenever Maria was out. As soon as she heard, she broke up with him in an instant. This lead her back to the start. 

Completely and utterly loveless. 

At least Eliza was there. She always was. Comforting her in her darkest days. That's when she knew she loved the girl.

But now it's too late. Her death will be for the sake of someone who will never return her feelings. All she could think of at that moment was...
