Warning : Profanity

Note : If you haven't already realised, each chapter will be linked to a song from a musical. I will add a picture or a video (^) of the song/musical so you know how they go.

Also, I don't know how uni works and I only did a little bit of research so...

Yup.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BITCH*

"Ahh! Fuck!" John bolted awake as a blaring noise pierced through the air. On the bedside table, his phone lit up.

08:58

"Shit!"

His first class after fall break was starting in fourteen minutes and he was not ready.

Physically nor mentally.

Dragging himself out of the bed, he slipped on a pullover hoodie, still wearing the jeans he slept in the night before, and hopped into a pair of dark-blue sneakers. His dirty backpack sat, stuffed under the bed, waiting to be used again for the next few months.

He grabbed his phone, backpack, and keys quicker than he snatches weaves and ran out of the door, slamming it close behind him. A few stairs and a few corners. Not too bad. Man, was he glad he was on the track team in high school. Doing all those laps on the track surely did pay off when you're 4 minutes away from being late to class.

Though, he never cared about most of his classes. History and geography bored him to the max. Science was the best in his opinion.

Anything to do with science, he was all for. Especially biology. One of the only classes he would put 100% effort in. It's just so interesting to understand how our bodies react and are structured so intricately and delicately, to make such harmful creatures. We are handled so carefully by the hands of science, yet we take it for granted, destroying the very thing that gave us life in the first place.

We are our own enemy.

And to John, that couldn't be more true. It was his fault he hadn't told Alexander the truth, though, he looked so happy with Elizabeth, what gives him the right to end that?

It's a lose, lose.

In the end, someone will be heartbroken, just in different ways.

If John and Maria were to keep this up, their hearts would, quite literally, break. It will dry up on the inside, giving the victim a slow, excruciatingly painful death.

On the other hand, if they told Alexander and Elizabeth the truth, they would break the others' hearts. They had been together for so long. Years, even. It would be such a waste of a happy, successful relationship, just because you weren't meant to be.

Perhaps, mental pain is worse than physical pain. At least, that's what John and Maria thought, but was it necessarily true?

He made his way to the lecture hall, with two minutes spare, and walked up the steps to a cluster of vacant seats near the walls of the room.

Students began pilling in, waiting for the professor to start the lecture.

John wasn't close with anyone in this hall, only a few familiar faces he had talked to once in a while. He scattered a few pens and books on the wooden desk, and not long after, the lecture began.
