Leaves rustled as the trees danced in the wind. Two young lovers embraced each other in the moonlight. Stars sparkled in their eyes as they held onto one another.
"Best be off now. Goodnight, Mari." Elizabeth whispered as she reluctantly let go of the slightly shorter girl. The other nodded and let go too.
"Goodnight, 'Liza. I love you." Maria gave her a quick peck on the lips. They each turned away in opposite directions. Elizabeth to the infamous Schuyler dorm, and Maria to the other dorm block. Soft smiles made their way onto their faces, brightening up their days.
-
Elizabeth strolled along the dimly-lit corridors of block A, her smile still plastered on her face. The dark hallways didn't bother her at all, for she was far too lovestruck to think straight. Her heart was bigger than her mind at the moment.
She fished around in her tiny pockets for her keys, finding multiple gum wrappers stashed in them. Finally finding the key, she pushed the door handle, her smile slightly drooping at the sight of the encrusted ring on her left ring finger, but she shook it off, knowing it was for the best.
"Peggy! Hurry your ass up, you fucking bitch!" She heard as soon as the door was ajar.
"Shut up, you hypocritical bitch! You take way longer than me in the shower!"
"Yeah!? Well, at least I don't screech like a dying pig, do I?!"
"It's called SINGING!"
The black-haired girl was glad her father had gotten them a dorm far away from other people. Well, apart from John and Alex above them, but they were probably used to it by now. Thank goodness her other brothers and sisters weren't old enough to go there, or else, the whole block would be in complete and utterly chaos. Boy, did her parents have lots of 'fun'.
She changed into some comfortable clothes and laid on her bed, scrolling through some overused memes on Instagram.
"Ohoho? What do we have here?" Peggy strolled in the room, a wet towel spiralled on top of her head. "Where have you been, missy? It's already thirty minutes past nine. I am very disappointed in you, young lady."
"Shut up, Peggs. I was just... With Maria." She smiled remembering how comfortable and happy she was with the girl. "Oh? Like a date?" Elizabeth threw a playful glare at Peggy, making her leave with a smug smirk on her face.
"The almighty Peggy never fails."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, not bothering to deal with her sister's slightly concerning self. "Close the door on your way out!" She yelled closing her eyes, but was met with no reply.
"Ugh." She got up to close the door to her room, before plopping back on the bed. "Typical siblings." She sighed.
Classes were to begin tomorrow morning, so she got ready for a well-earned rest. Putting her phone on charge next to her bed, she turned off the ceiling lights, the only things lighting up the room were her fairy lights and the blinding light of her phone. And also the moonlight that shone through the gaps in her blinds.
Her sisters had stopped arguing and were probably doing the same as her right now. Though, you could never predict what they were doing. Especially Peggy.
-
It was quiet. Too quiet. She was never a fan of the quiet. It made her miss her home, her family back in the mansion. You could never be granted quietness in a family with over 7 children. She missed that. She missed the way her siblings would shout around the halls. Or the way her father and mother would sigh, too exhausted to even attempt to calm them down.
