Chap.5

Hayden's pov

Why does everything have to be so weird and creepy, like my parents. Every night before I go to bed I can here them arguing but they whisper so I don't get to hear anything.

Right now I'm sitting in my car in the schools parking lot thinking back to the first day of school and how everything was weird.

That Harry kid staring at me the whole day. The black car. My parents whispering and keeping stuff from me. My mom being awkward and going somewhere to talk to someone on the phone in private which makes me think she's cheating on dad. Getting asked to prom by someone I don't even know.Ben acting so weird around me now and Kate not being able to come places with me and Ben because she has plans with that carnival guy. I honestly don't even know his name. I also think Ben doesn't like Kate in that way anymore because of how distant she's being.

Everything is just so confusing.

I check the time on my phone and it's 8:28.

I only have two minutes to get my stuff and get to class.

After getting out of my car and locking it. I raced up the stairs and to my locker.

When I was done getting my books I went to my class.

Right as I'm about to sit Down the bell rang. The teacher isn't here anyways.

"Hey."Ben smiled.

"Hi." I smiled back and took my books out.

I glanced at him to see that he's staring right behind me.

I looked over my shoulder to see Harry sitting behind me.

I never really paid attention to him even when he's in all my classes and staring at me all the time. I haven't spoken to him since that last time at lunch. I should ask what he wants from me.

I turned around in my seat and stared at him trying to figure out what to say.

"Hi Harry."

He raised his head from the desk and stared at me like he's seeing right through me.

"Hello Hayden." he grinned and sat up.

"Hayden what are you doing?" Ben asked.

"Trying to figure out what he wants from me!" I whispered back and faced Harry again.

"I don't want anything from you." Harry flatly said.

"Then why do you keep staring at me and following me?"

"Uh well if you haven't notice I have this major crush on you" he said but he has this sarcasm in his voice.

"Shut up" I scoffed and turned back in my seat.

"Where is ms. Golding? she's always so late!" A girl said who was sitting on her desk chewing gum.

The class agreed and went back to their own little group.

"Are we cool?" Ben asked.

"What?"

"I mean are we still friends?"

"Yes we are. Look I'm sorry for being rude to you last night. I just really wanted to know who was in that car."

"It's ok. I understand." he glanced at Harry before glancing back at me.

"Is everything ok with you and Harry?" I asked wondering why he keeps looking at him.

"Yea everything's fine." he smiled.

"Guys I think I'm in love!" Kate smiled spinning around while we walked outside to our usual spot to have lunch.

"It's only been like 4 days!"I said. "what's even his name?"

"Robert. He's so sweet and caring and so cute!" she gushed sitting down on the grass."should I invite him to prom so he can be my date?" she asked.

I looked over at Ben and he's scrolling through his phone.

"Yea go ahead."i smiled.

"Ok. I will!" She got up and walked away so she can call Robert.

"Ben?" I turned to him.

"Yea?"

"We're you planning on asking Kate to prom?"

"No." he answered and locked his phone setting it down.

"Oh. I have to ask you something." I went on.

"Go ahead."

"I got asked to prom!"

"What?" The smile on his face dropped.

"Yea. I don't even know what he looks like. His grandfather gave him my number."

"Did you say yes?!" he asked.

"Well I said 'maybe' I'm gonna go to prom but I'll only go with him if you think it's a good idea." I looked at him and he looked away from me for a second before looking back at me.

I could tell by his face reaction that he isn't so fond of the idea.

"I don't know." he ran his hand through his hair.

"Your opinion matters to me Ben and I want you to tell me the truth." He looks me closely in the eye but didn't say anything.

This reminds me of the time I forced him to look me in the eye and tell me he doesn't like Kate.

"Tell me what your thinking." I mumbled.

"I'm thinking that your a very beaut-"

"I have a date to prom!" Kate ran up squealing.

"That's great!" I gave her a small smile and glanced back at Ben.

He was gonna say beautiful but he was cut off which reminds me of yesterday when he was about to tell me something.

"Do you guys have dates?!" Kate smiled.

"No not yet and if I don't I'll just tag along with Ben if he doesn't have a date or I'll just go alone." I said eating my fruits.

"Ben who are you gonna ask? any special girl?!"

"Yea. There is one special girl I was planning on asking." he glanced at me before quickly looking back at Kate. "but I think she already has a date." He added. "I'm gonna go for a walk." he got up and walked away.

"Why do I get the feeling that the special girl was you?" Kate asked.

"I don't know but I got that feeling too." I said looking at Ben while he walked away from us.
