If I have to use one word to describe the situation we are in right now, it will be chaos. Since Matthias sighted the Enforcers two days ago, Nikolas' family have been living with us. Which isn't really a problem because the house is just so spacious that sometimes we don't see each other. What is worrying us the most is the fact that Matthias is missing in action. We have tried to call him multiple times, but there's no answer. We don't know if he's mortally injured, captured or tortured. The only thing we know remains the fact that he is alive because Alice and Michael can feel their bond with their child.

It has also been two anxious days since we went out of the house. Nikolas doesn't want to risk it. He says that Enforcers are extremely dangerous, and they won't leave the city alone until they have eradicated every single one of the supernatural beings. I also heard that decreasing numbers of Pures are caused by them. The more highborn creatures they kill the more they are respected and feared in their organization. This is why only the human servants are allowed in and out of the house to secure some food for us to eat. We wouldn't have required any blood since Nikolas and I are mated, but Katie isn't and apparently, it has been a little more than a week already since she last fed. Fortunately for us, Nikolas does keep some blood in a separate fridge somewhere in the cellar for emergencies like this so it won't be a problem.

"How come they decided to come here?" I ask my mate as he does something on his laptop.

"I don't know... If I remember correctly it has been more than thirty or forty years since they came here," Nikolas grumbles with a frown.

Thirty or forty years ago, I was already living here in the city! I think I have been preying on some women too... So, how come they did not notice me if we don't even dare to get out of the house now?

"How many died?"

"A dozen maybe? Including werewolves."

I perk up at the mention of werewolves, "I didn't know there is a pack in the city."

"There is none. It is my family territory, but they are living just outside of the city. They don't like outsiders, so they will only come here for an absolute necessity. But no matter what, don't wander into their territory without the permission of their alpha. They may be dogs, but they are annoying as hell in big numbers."

"You... Don't like them?" I curiously ask as I scroll down on my phone while reading the news.

"You can say that," he grumbles before sighing.

Yeah, he definitely doesn't like them. I chuckle softly when I notice the small pout forming on his lips. I have remarked it for a while now. When he doesn't enjoy something he usually pouts, but only very slightly which is almost unnoticeable. Though, he is still adorable when pouting.

Even though I have heard of them, I have never seen a werewolf by my own eyes and the reason is simple. We don't appreciate each other since we can basically kill each other. Vampires are practically immortal, but the toxin coating the werewolves' fangs and claws can be enough to kill a vampire when administered in a considerable quantity. As for werewolves they are not immortals, but I heard that vampires used to hunt them because they are a threat to us. I don't really know the full history of what happened, but that's the general picture. Honestly, I wouldn't blame them since it's undeniably the vampires' fault. Just like... Just like how humans hunted vampires... Hunted us... I suppose everyone has something or someone to fear. It is only an instinctive reaction to survive right?

"Are you okay?" Nikolas asks making me look up as our noses touched.

I yelp and jerk back to create some space between us. When did he get so close?
