"What should we name our child?" I ask Nikolas who's reading some magazine on our bed was I scratched my hair while browsing through hundreds of baby names.

My mate puts the magazine down before looking at me. "We don't even know the sex of the baby yet."

I raise an eyebrow at my mate. "It doesn't mean we can start thinking about it."

"Alright, come here," he waves his hand while sitting up straight on the bed.

I follow his instructions and sit next to him on our bed. I give him the book filled with baby names. I observe him go through the pages with a slight frown before closing it.

"What names did you like?" he asks as he taps his fingers on the book cover.

"How about Asher if it's a boy and Corey if it's a girl," I propose after a short pause as my mate nods without giving any feedback. "What do you think?"

"What if we have twins?"

"How do you even know that?" I ask surprisedly by his answer. The idea of having twins didn't even cross my mind.

"Intuition?" he shrugs after thinking about it for a bit, but I have a feeling that it isn't the real reason.

"Sure, whatever you want," I shrug him off before grabbing my book back.

Our first child is on the way. It has been a long process. We first had to find a reliable vampire doctor who could do some magical stuff in molecular biology to combine our spermatozoids, so the baby could inherit both of our genes.

At first, my parents-in-law were against it since Nikolas' genes were superior. He is a Pure after all. In fact, I was agreeing with them. My genes were just not good enough. It was the most rational thing to do even though it broke my heart to know that my mate would be with someone else than me to be able to conceive our child. But in a world like ours, strength is everything. We have to fight for our lives daily. If it isn't against the enforcers, it's against other supernatural creatures.

At least, the Silverback pack became our allies. Well, sort of. Nothing was agreed or said, but we had a mutual understanding that we would be helping each other in need. Maybe that is what happened. I don't know what that man is thinking... He's too dense and annoying!

Anyways, when everyone was about to agree on the decision about our child, Nikolas rejected the idea. To be honest, I was surprised that he did, but at the same time, I am relieved. He argued for a long time against his parents as I stayed silent. In the end, he claimed that it was our child and ours alone. So we get to decide what process we will be taking.

After that, Nikolas and I talked privately about it, and I couldn't lie to him. He saw right through me, but he also understands my worries. In the end, I was convinced by his resolve to have a child that is from both of us. I was so happy about it that I started to cry.

After we found the doctor, we had to choose a suitable woman to carry our future child. It was so hard since Nikolas rejected almost everyone. First, she had to be a vampire since the baby took longer to conceive and has to stay in the mother's womb for eighteen months. Any human woman would be freaking out. We could get her under mind control, but it wasn't the optimal possibility.

Second, he also rejected any woman who dreamed to get into our family because of greed. I often forget about it, but Nikolas' family is very influential in the vampire world. Not only because they are Pures, but because they are also so accomplished. Of course, we promise a monetary compensation since we would be using someone else's body, but we still don't want any money grabber that happens to show up at our front door.
