Leaving the enforcer's corpse behind, we rapidly join my father-in-law and Daniel. I could still feel the jealousy emanating from my mate. I smile in satisfaction. This is payback from last time! Who told you to flirt with the injured woman in one of Matthias' coven. Serve you right!

When we joined the others, I am surprised to see that the enforcer is still breathing and pretty much alive. He is presently hanging by his hands while Daniel and Michael are interrogating him. Now I know why it took so long for them to subdue the enemy. But it doesn't look like they have much success since the enforcer is still refusing to talk.

"This is my last warning. Answer me," Daniel threatens with an animalistic growl as I roll my eyes. No one would be scared by that.

"What about a no," the human answered with a bored expression.

Daniel clenches his fists as he let out another long low growl. He seems like he is about to explode. Then, without further words, the Alpha's nails elongate before becoming sharp claws. The enforcer passively watched Daniel who takes a step closer to him. He doesn't even flinch when Daniel digs his claws into the man's right shoulder.

"You think this is my first time feeling the effects of toxins?" the human comments unimpressed.

"Surely not, but how about the toxins of an Alpha? Don't worry, you'll understand soon enough," the werewolf pats the human's shoulder which winced at the pressure on his wound.

Then, Daniel turns around and leans his back on a tree a few meters away from the enforcer. He patiently watched the prisoner with a bored expression while cleaning his claws free of blood.

We all silently observed the prisoner as he starts to sweat and loses all the colour in his face. Even though I didn't like this, I kept my mouth shut. It makes me remember the incident we had with Matthias, and I hate it. Plus, Daniel cut the man pretty deep, so he must be feeling the toxins burning his body from the inside.

"Ready to talk?" Daniel asks as he is back in front of the suffering human.

The prisoner clenches his teeth but says nothing. The Alpha sighs at his stubbornness before digging his claws into the left shoulder. This time, the enforcer screams at the pain before going limp against his restraints.

"K-kill me," the prisoner mumbles as Daniel snorts at him.

"Then, you better start talking. Until I hear what I want, I won't allow you to die. I'll heal you back to health before going through this all over again."

"T-there is nothing to say to a beast," he answered before coughing out blood.

I cover my nose in disgust at the smell of the vital fluid. Human's blood mixed to werewolf toxins is the worst. Not only it smells like a rotting corpse it also tastes as bad and it's extremely toxic for vampires. As soon as we ingest this polluted blood there is no way to cure yourself back to health. It is a slow and painful death.

Before Daniel decided to kill the enforcer out of anger, Michael takes over. He grabs the prisoner's hair before tugging his head up. They stare at each other for a moment. At first, I thought they were having a staring contest until I notice my father-in-law's eyes. They are unfocused which means he is trying to read the enforcer's mind.

"Why is it taking so long?" I mumble to myself, but it doesn't go unnoticed by my mate.

"Entering a mind that is protected and unwilling is dangerous," my mate answers causing me to frown.

"Katie and I practiced on each other and there weren't any problems."

"What you did with Katie was to learn to protect your mind. But the enforcer is not only doing that he is also trying to expel dad from it. If dad is not careful enough he may end up breaking the enforcer's mind," Nikolas explains as I nod in understanding.
