Alyssa's P.O.V.
"Go go hit me!" I yelled at my brother while I chased him.
"If I say yes would you leave me alone?" he said as he turned around to look at me.
"Yes, I Promise!" I said and gave him a big wide smile.
"Well Alyssa you know I wouldn't hit you for no reason and it isn't your training time yet. now go bug mom or something" He told me and walked away.
"Alex! Ugh!" I said and walked into the living room.
"Hey Ally what's wrong?" my younger brother asked me when I sat on the couch.
"You know the usual Austin when Alex is being a little-"
"Language!" my mother interrupted me when she walked in.
"Mom he is only 5 years old of course I wouldn't say bad words in front of him," I told her.
"Well missy ever since you turned 21 you think you are old enough to do what you want, but you are under our roof so you are under our rules," She said as she gave a cup of juice to Austin.
"Yes momma I know the rules don't worry, even though I'm already 24," I said as I got up to give her a kiss on her head and leave the room.
"Momma, what was she going to say?" I heard Austin ask.
"I'll tell when you're older" I heard her reply. Austin made a cute grumpy noise and stayed quiet.
I walked outside where my dad and Alex were talking about who knows what. I walked up to them and sat on one of the chairs near them.
"So what are we talking about?" I asked and they both stared at me.
"Work," Alex said and smiled.
"Can I know what it is now?" I asked while looking at my dad.
"Sweetie you know you can't know about work things," He said and smiled at me.
"Yes not unless you aren't part of it," Alex said and laughed a bit.
"That's a good idea! Hey, dad can I join work now?" I asked him as I gave him my best puppy dog eyes.
"Honey you know you aren't ready for it yet. You know it's tough and I don't want anything happening to you" he said and looked at me with sadness.
"Dad but Alex has been in it for the past 4 years and I am the age he was when he first joined," I said trying to argue.
"Yeah, but Alex knew how to defend himself and he knew what he was doing," my dad said as he looked at Alex.
"But you guys have been training me since before I was 10! I can defend myself! Do I have to remind you about the girl I fought for bullying me in school?" I said feeling proud of myself.
"Yes, and you got in trouble for that which was dumb since it wasn't even your fault," Alex said and rolled his eyes.
"And they didn't do anything to her being the daughter of some important person," I said while rolling my eyes.
"Now honey go get ready for training it starts in 15 minutes, and also both of you stop rolling your eyes before they fall of" my dad said which made us laugh.
I changed into my workout clothes being black leggings with a pink stripe on the side, a matching sports bra with a white muscle shirt. No pink is not my favorite it's just that everything else is dirty. I got to the mirror and put my long brown wavy hair in a ponytail and walked out. I went downstairs and hear different voices coming from the living room. When I got into the living room I noticed my dad, Alex, and some of my dad's workers.
"Well did you get him?!" my dad screamed at one.
"No boss he ran away but we are currently trying to track him down," He said.
I cleared my throat before they said anything else. They all turned around to look at me and smiled.
"Hey baby girl I have to go take care of something at work, but Alex will stay to do training with you," my dad said as he came towards me.
"Dad is everything okay?" I asked as I became worried.
"Yes princess don't worry about its just work stuff," he said and kissed my head.
"Okay dad yeah that's fine just be careful," I said and I smiled at him.
"I always am princess," he said and walked away with his workers. Brian stayed behind and walked up to me.
"Hey Alyssa, how are you doing?" he asked while checking me out.
"I am doing Amazing Brian and when you want to talk to me look at me at eye level," I said and he laughed.
"Come on Baby girl," he said and stepped closer. I took a step back and he took a step closer.
"Brian my dad is leaving you should go before he sees you and gets mad," I said and took one more step back.
"Why would he get mad if I am not doing anything?" he said and took a step closer.
"Brian I am warning you to stay back," I said to him and he smirked.
"Or what?" he said and took a step closer. He was about to put his arm around my waist, but someone else's hand grabbed his arm.
"Bro she said to stay away so I suggest you stay away" I heard Alex say. Brian moved away from me and Alex got in front of me.
"Son, let's go" Brian's dad came back and he went with him, but before he was completely gone he turned back and winked at me and then he left. Alex turned around to look at me.
"Is this what you call defending yourself?" He asked me.
"Alex you know I panic when it comes to defending myself like that," I said while looking down.
"Hey now, it's okay don't worry I understand. What happened must have left you traumatized," he said and hugged me.
"Now let's go it's time to work out," he said and we went to the private gym in the backyard.
~30 minutes later~
"Alex please talk to dad. I know the job is a hard and dangerous thing to do but I want to be part of it with you guys and I know there are other girls in it that take care of the shipments and don't go out" I said as we ran on the treadmill.
"Alyssa you know he just wants you safe and doesn't want you involved in that," He told me as he tried controlling his breathing.
"Yeah but I would be indoors with the girls handling shipment and maybe later I'll show him I'm strong enough to go on jobs with you guys," I said as I controlled my breathing.
"I'll talk to him later," he said "Start slowing down and get off the machine we are moving on" I groaned but listened to him.
~30 minutes later~
"Damn I felt like today's work out was extra intense," I said as we both drank water.
"Yes I'm planning to make it a bit more difficult so you can get stronger," he said as he drank water.
"How much stronger can I get? I have abs, strong arms, strong legs" I said and laughed.
"Shipment involves carrying heavy boxes I'm going to add more pounds when we lift to help you," He said and smiled at me.
"Now go shower you stink and I think mom wanted to go out later," He said and laughed.
"Hey, you stink too probably more than I do!" I said and laughed. We walked to the house and saw my mom in the living room with her face in her hands.
"Mom?" I asked as Alex and I got closer. She was shaking, she was crying.
"Mom, what's wrong?" I said as I put my hand on her back. She cried for a bit and tried to calm down enough to tell us. She took a deep breath in and out and looked up at us.
"Your father has been shot"
