It was the late afternoon. The sun was setting over the horizon of the lake and a cool breeze blew through the camp. Everyone was at the amphitheater, singing and laughing next to the roaring fire. I, however, was alone and enjoying the nippy wind. It blew through my curly hair and up my shirt, but it didn't make me cold. In fact, it was comforting.
Something about that wind, the first wind of fall, the one that rustled the browning leaves, made me like I was home. Like I would ride that wind for days and never feel upset.
I placed my hands behind me, sinking them into the sand. My head tiled back and dozing off. My mind dreaming of ethereal trees that glowed in the bright rays of dawn and dimmed at dusk. The grass that glowed a mysterious green for fields under the giant trees. Crystal clear rivers and creeks, see-through oceans and lakes.
                              'C'mon Luseke!'
I snapped my eyes open and looked around for that familiar voice calling that name. A name I remember.
'Luseke' was a name I've heard hundreds of times in my dreams, in random flashbacks. Hundreds  of times spoken voices with no face. But who was she? Who calls that name?
                              ~
Pulling my covers over my head, fall into sleep. The name Luseke repeating in my head. Questions that'll never get an answer erupt from my mind....
I open my eyes to the sun beaming through the open window. The curtains ripple in the cool breeze. My minimal decorated room glowed slightly in the golden light. The vanity mirror reflected the canopy of trees on the outskirts of the city below. Familiarity began to arise inside me as if I had lived in this very room for my entire life, I know where everything is like the back of my hand.
Removing the blanket of fine fabric, I get out of bed and walk to the window. My feet moving for me to a routine I have never known. But as I gaze out the window I see why. The light of the sun kisses the rooftops of the city below in a magical way that makes it worth the early rise.
"Luseke!" A man calls. My head whips to the door to see a man dressed in a regal outfit, but not so stuffy. The pants were a soft yellow, tucked into celestial bronze boots. See-through fabric tucked the same way on his arms in celestial bronze gauntlets. A white bodice with gold embroidery pressed and placed handsomely on the dark haired man. "Get ready, your friends are arriving soon."
"Yes, Father." My mouth says and my feet move to the vanity. The words escaped me without me knowing what to say, but as I reached the mirror, I noticed my eyes. Though my hair was the same, my eyes were brighter, as if the sun was trapped in my eyes. Instead of the bronze gold haze, they were an intense yellow.
The man–my father apparently– walked behind me and placed his hands in my shoulders. "You look so much like your mother."
"I see her in your smile and hear her in your voice." He smiled sadly. "But I know that I have something even greater before me."
                              "What do you mean, father?"
"You're going to do magnificent things one day, my lady. You won't remember me for years but you'll do something to change our worlds for the better."
I turn in my seat, knees on the cushion so that I can hug him. "I'll never forget you father! Who will take me to see the leaves on earth? To ride the wind during the fall?"
"Oh, but you see," He brushes my hair behind my ears. "You'll do it on your own, to see the worlds form the heights that so few can be."
I hug him tighter. "But don't worry, you'll see me again," he kisses my forehead lovingly. "As for now, get ready."
"Yes, father." I sit back down on the chair and get ready.
My dress already ready, hanging on the hook beside the table. A pastel orange skirt and a tan to a warm brown bodice and parted skirt. A green ribbon tied to the back and around my biceps, for an off shoulder sleeve. My mother's necklace draped over the hook and barely under the clasp of the halter top collar. An imperial gold necklace with a heart imbedded in the center of a sun. The rays of the sun were detached and spun around it dancing to a melody that played when it was opened.
I sighed. Memories of me and a woman clapping and laughing, baking cookies and having fun. Her dark skin glowed in my father's sun beams and her curly hair bounced as we ran. But a war on earth needed to be disputed, and she was sent for peace. And never came back.
"Luseke?" Piper called, or I think it was piper. She walked into the room as if she's lived here with me. A lavender dress fell to her mid calf, flowers from earth were displayed on the silk of her skirt. As if she had grabbed a meadow and wrapped it around her. The flowers covered the bodice till the waist where it wrapped around her and down the skirt. "It's almost time to see the prince, are you ready?"
"Oh!" I said. "Yes, Amtrenai, I'm ready."
I follow her to the ballroom. Not many people stood in the hallways, just some waiting for friends and other guests. All of them patiently waiting till the clock struck and the prince would be crowned king. It was about an hour till, everyone was excited. Happy to see the young prince finally become what destiny foretold.
Stopping behind Amtrenai for a bit, I fix my clothes in one of the mirrors next to the entrance. It was tall. Reaching one of the arches in the ceiling, silver vines kept it in place like a frame against the wall. I knew that I looked alright for the event, Amtrenai helped me pick out the dress, but I was getting a bit suspicious about the man in the corner by the door. Skin as dark as mine, if not darker, contrasted greatly against the bright white of his hair. Pulled back behind him in a clip decorated in jewels that could be seen from here. Small hairs framed his face, the ones that weren't held back, with little stars in them as well. His suit was very regal. Like a Disney prince, a clean white suit and black cape attached to gold shoulder decorations. A raiper attaches to his belt and an aura as dangerous and powerful as the current king.
Stepping away I hide behind small crowds, trying to get closer. It seemed as if he was talking to someone. "I know where he is."
"Yes milord, it will be done." He says and turns around, coming face to face with me. "A peeping Tom." He drapes an arm around my back, keeping me close as to not run away. "Come, I'd like to speak with you, lady Luseke."
