January 9th
"Is there a Tamara Eloise Daley here?"
I slowly open my eyes upon hearing my name being broadcast around the ward. To my surprise I have mail. I have never had anything addressed to me let alone this intriguing black box that requires a postman to deliver it to my bed. The head nurse retorts with, "Yes, she lives right over there, Tamara you have a secret admirer, I guess."
I bet the head nurse was just jealous from the lack of attention she was getting from members of the opposite sex, or even members of the same sex. Attention deficiency regardless.
I received and signed off my parcel, only to begin shaking it as though I was an eager child trying to guess my Christmas present.
"Tamara, quit making that noise! It's only 6.00am and there are people still asleep in this ward, if you wish to continue making raucous noise then take yourself outside." The head nurse at this point was aggressively whispering at me.
I proceeded to take myself and my parcel outside to the fake garden stage the hospital had so kindly provided, you know, for 'fresh air'. I opened the package and inside stuck to another smaller mysterious black box was a sticky note, which read:
Hey Daley, I send my sincerest apologies for not showing up yesterday but I was just busy with work. Besides it gave me the excuse to buy you a make-up present and here it is.
Levi. He had left me hanging, thinking that whatever we had was in my head and then out of the blue decides to gift me, yet still doesn't show up in person. I can't understand this guy, does he like me, does he not. Am I a friend? Was there ever a break-up that needed to be made-up? And he needs to quit calling me Daley, it makes me feel as though he is my football coach or something, even though I would never be part of something as active, both physically and socially as a football team.
I opened the small black box only to find more black, yet thankfully it wasn't another box, in which case I would have written him off as a prankster. No thank you. But the black this time was a walkie-talkie, like one straight out of a cops back pocket. I couldn't understand why he had decided to gift me this but graciously there was another sticky note with an explanation:
So you might be confused but it will all make sense tomorrow, just make sure your walkie-talkie is turned on tomorrow morning at 9.00am.
I wasn't interested in playing his games and Alex's words still played like a song stuck in my head, but nevertheless I was excited for tomorrow.

I didn't really do much for the rest of the day yesterday, apart from trying to get the walkie-talkie to work. I think I managed to turn it on but it simply made an annoying static sound that drove the head nurse up the walls. I loved annoying her, because I hold grudges and I could never, not in a million years, forget that she restricted me to hospital sandwiches for a whole week.
Besides that, I'm just excited to awaken to a potential surprise, well a guaranteed surprise from Levi. Just another 30 minutes to go till it is 9.00am.
Meanwhile, Dr. Carter walks into the room and despite my crush for Levi I still can't resist how intelligent and attractive and just all round beautiful this man is. He's the kind of guy my grandma would like, not in a bad way just in a timeless handsome kind of way. I'm so stupid. Anyway he just walked in scanned the ward and saw that I was up early, normally I am the one to miss breakfast and wake up at like 11.00am. He came over to my bed and signalled that I come outside to have a chat.
