Chapter 18

Chapter 18- The Light's Light

By the end of fifth year, Seven and Keshie plans to visit Light one of the vacation days. Light arrives her home after her last class. Light settles to put her belongings on the floor.
  "I'm home," she mutters.
She turns on the lights in her house. Her mother is sleeping on her room. She finds her brother scribbling on a notebook, inside the bedroom floor.
  "Hey I'm home!" Light smiles at the door.
Her younger brother gets up and runs to her for a hug. She then carries her brother.
  "How were you doing when I was not around, huh?" Light smiles.
  "Coloring.. drawing.." her brother smiles.
  "Edmund, that's nice.. you want to see something?" Light answers.
  "Here!" Light holds a chocolate frog on her hand.
Her brother gasps in happiness.
  "My favorite!" Edmund slides down to take it and then opens it. Her brother then opens the container. The chocolate frog then jumps on the floor. Edmund tries to catch it around the bedroom. Light can not help but feel happy seeing it. She feels mesmerized by the thought of the ease. Her mother then wakes up.
  "Oh hey dear, you're home.. it's good to see back," her mom hugs Light.
  "Me too mom.." she smiles.
  "Have you heard?" Her mom speaks up.
  "What?" Light asks.
  "Things have been going in Hogwarts.." Her mom frowns sadly.
  "Yes.. I'm afraid that the next following years would be difficult.. there was a teacher for Defense Against the Dark Arts named Umbridge.. we did not like her one bit.." Light sighs.
  "Dolores Umbridge? Was it?"
  "Yes.."
  "She works for the Ministry of Magic right?"
   "Yes I think so.."
   "Be careful hon.. they might be up to something no good! I saw in the Daily Prophet about Hogwarts recently saying that Umbridge was there to 'fix' it... but I don't think so.. I think it is just rubbish.." her mom adds.
"I'll be careful mom," Light smiles reassuringly.
"Please, dear.. you know why your name is Light? It is because you are our light and that ray of light to us.. you grew up to be a wonderful lady and I'm happy.." her mom smiles while caressing Light's cheek.
"Thank you mom.. you both are my light too.. I can't let anyone take away that light from me.. you both are my inspiration and my determination.. I will do everything for you both.. and also.. my friends are a light too.. like fireflies.. they help me too.. I'm glad they are there for me.." Light tears up slightly.
Light's mother just smiles happily at her as a response.
"Then I'm more happy for you, my dear," Her mom stands up.
"Edmund," Her mom calls out.
Her brother who chased a chocolate frog is now sitting on the floor, eating it. He looks up.
"Let us prepare, her friends should be visiting tomorrow.." Her mother smiles.
Edmund then gets up, still nibbling on the chocolate. Her mother takes him by one hand and gets her wand. She then starts preparing.
"Wait, mom.." Light calls out.
"Yes, honey?"
"They are visiting tomorrow?"
"Yes, one of your friends sent their owls today , saying they will arrive tomorrow instead..."
"Oh.. thanks mom,"
Her mom turns around at Light.
"You're welcome," her mom nods.
Her mother continues to walk out.
The next day. There is a knocking on the door. Light gets up from the chair in the dining room.
  "I'm coming," Light screams.
She opens the door. Seven and Keshie are standing outside.
  "Hey, we came to visit! Well.. more sooner.. I'm sorry.." Seven answers.
Light invites both in and let them sit in the dining room table. Light's mother gets out from the kitchen and serves them food.
  "Thank you for your hospitality," Seven smiles.
  "Thank you, madam," Keshie lowers her head slightly.
  "Oh, Merlin's beard, don't worry about it.. you both are my daughter's friends after all.." Light's mom smiles as she sits in one of the tables.
  "So, you two are Light's friends.."
   "Yes, Well.. we have another friend but she could not go with us right now.." Seven explains.
  "Oh, that's too bad.. who is this friend?" Light's mother asks.
  "Her name is Nadja.. Nadja Marleigh.." Seven smiles.
  "Ah I see.." Light's mom smiles back.
They all chatter and eat in the dining room. The two visitors have been walking around the house. Light's younger brother runs around.
  "That's your brother?" Seven smiles.
  "Yes," Light replies.
Light then calls for her brother and carries him. Light speaks in a low voice.
  "Do you think things will be much more later in Hogwarts.. because.. I'll do everything I can to protect my family.. my mom.. my brother.. and you guys.. I will do everything.. my family is my light.." Light saddens.
  "It's alright.. we will be here for you!" Seven reassures.
  "She's right.. we are here!" Keshie rests a hand on Light's shoulder.
  "Thank you.." Light answers with a smile.
