"This is sad," Frank said aloud, observing Camp Jupiter's armory. The bow Frank had since he'd come to Camp had recently been destroyed thanks to a particularly rambunctious battle elephant. He'd left it on the ground by mistake and the large animal trampled it without a second thought.

Of course, his weapon of choice, the bow, was in short supply. It wasn't a Roman's typical choice. Romans were all about close contact. They fought face to face and typically used items such as swords and daggers. A long range weapon such as a bow would have been seen as ridiculous and cowardly. Who wouldn't want to see the whites of their enemies' eyes?

Hazel shrugged. "Bows just aren't very Roman, Frank. If you want a decent bow, you're going to have to either buy one or make one. We both know the Camp isn't in any rush to restock their supply."

Frank's mind began spinning. "Make one. That's not a bad idea."

It took time, a lot of time, but Frank eventually crafted a bow of his own design. It was a beautiful weapon, made of Imperial gold and regular mortal titanium.

"The gold was hard to come by," Frank explained to Hazel as he showed her the bow. "I had to ask Leo to track some down for me. He eventually found some bent and useless weapons somewhere in Bunker Nine that he decided to melt down and...well...I owe him a very large Dairy Queen Gift Card."

Hazel giggled. "Whatever the cost, I think it was worth it. It's a beautiful weapon, Frank."

Franks chest swelled a bit. "You think so?" There was a touch of pride in his voice.

"Absolutely," Hazel said. "You could sell that thing and make some serious money."

Frank ran his hand along the edge of the bow, feeling the cool metal beneath his fingers. He plucked at the bowstring absentmindedly. "Yea, I guess I could."

Frank made another bow, and another, and another, each one selling for a hefty price. People (especially Apollo campers from Camp Half-Blood that Leo told about Frank's creations) were anxious to get their hands on one of his special bows.

"Finally, a weapon that will hold up during Capture the Flag!" One of the Apollo campers said after receiving their bow. "Do you know how many bows I've had broken in half or burned to ashes?"
