Twenty - Four

Sabina's POV- August 2018

I was tired, and I needed coffee...urgently...so Starbucks it was.

"Next"

"Hi, can I get a venti iced caramel macchiato" I ordered.

"Of course, anything else"

I eyed the pastries.

"Can I get a cheese danish?" I asked.

"Let me see if we have any"

I nodded and smiled as he returned.

"You're in luck, we've got one left"

"I'll take it then," I said.

He nodded.

"anything else?"

"No" I replied.

He gave me my total and I scanned my phone to pay for my coffee and pastry.

"Can I get your name?"

"Sabina" I answered.

"How do you spell that?"

"S-A-B-I-N-A" I spelled out.

"Cool name, we will call out your name when your order is ready"

"Okay, thank you" I told him.

"Do you want your receipt?"

"No thank you" I answered.

I moved out of the line and looked around for an empty chair. Luckily, I found an empty small table. Once I was seated, I pulled my phone out and saw I had 4 unread text messages from Adrian

Can't sleep

Call me when you're out of class?

Miss you

Love you lots

Just as I was about to respond to him, a voice spoke up.

"Excuse me"

I looked up and smiled at the pretty brunette.

"Is this seat taken?"

I shook my head.

"Go right on ahead" I answered.

She smiled.

"Thank you"

As she took a seat, she asked.

"You're Sabina, right?"

How did she know my name?

"Sorry, no I'm not a total stalker. We just had class together. By the way, I'm Isabella"

She was right, we did just have class together, COMD 501. This girl was fluent in Spanish, the pronunciation of her name gave it away.

"Yes," I confirmed.

"So what did you think of the class?"

"The portfolio sounds intimidating, but we should all be fine" I replied.

The class consisted of all the first year Communicative Disorder Graduate students, which was a total of 11 individuals (6 females, 5 males).

"Are you taking COMD 500?"

"Yeah, I'm nervous about that class" I admitted.

"Girl, same"

I had glanced at the syllabus that had been sent out this morning and saw that our final assignment was a 20 page, double-spaced research design proposal.
