Sabina's POV- January 2018

Adrian reached for his napkin as he finished eating two of his three avocado tacos.

"This is really good"

"I'm glad you liked it" I stated.

"You can't go wrong with avocados"

Paul laughed at the statement but nodded agreeing because he too had chosen to eat avotacos. We were having lunch with the love birds at the place where Stevie had recommended we come eat at. It was a vegan restaurant, but the food was tasty.

"Want to try the chili?" I asked Adrian.

He nodded and opened his mouth indicating he wanted me to feed it to him. I scooped up a spoonful and stuffed it into his mouth. As he tasted the chili, he slowly nodded.

"It has no meat?"

"It does not" I confirmed.

He hummed and reached for a fry.

"It's good"

Paul looked at me.

"Maybe you can change his pregame meal"

I laughed and turned to Adrian.

"Do I tell him, or shall you?" I wondered.

"Tell him"

There was a reason why Adrian always ate pasta as his pregame food.

"It's the only food that keeps him full" I disclosed.

Adrian took a bite of his avotaco and eyed Stevie's rice bowl she was eating. She noticed and reached over for my spoon on my bowl of chili.

"Want to try?"

He smiled.

"Sure"

Paul looked at me slightly impressed.

"When Stevie said that Adrian was coming, I admit, I was skeptical"

"He's not a big of a picky eater as he used to be," I said.

Adrian scooped up a spoonful and looked at Paul.

"Believe it or not, Pauly, I do like eating vegetables"

Paul chuckled and watched as he ate the spoonful of food.

"Do you like it?"

Adrian nodded at Stevie's question.

"You can tell if I don't like something"

Oh yeah, you could tell. He scrunched up his nose in disgust and gagged.

"So are you vegan?"

She laughed

"No, I like wings too much"

'Like' was an understatement.

"You don't necessarily have to eat meat to get your nutrients and feel full"

She smiled.

"I'm a sucker for good food"

Stevie was a foodie.

"Hello! Should I set a menu down to order dessert?"

Adrian looked at me.

"Do you want dessert?"

"I'm okay" I replied.

Stevie scrunched up her nose.

"Can I get a takeout container?"

The waitress smiled and nodded.

"So no dessert?"

Paul shook his head.

"We're good, thank you though"

When she excused herself, Paul and Adrian started talking about their practice tomorrow. Stevie looked at me.

"Christian slid into my DMs"

"Yeah, for?" I wondered.

"He wanted to know if I would be willing to take photographs during the charity softball game"

Oh right, that was in like 2 weeks. He had reached out to me, asking me if I would be willing to participate in the softball game. After that, there was going to be some sort of dinner and well he had asked if I could bring both my medals with me. I agreed, informing him that only children were allowed to put on my medals. Grown ass adults could hold them but not wear them.

"I only agreed because he's paying me"

He was probably paying her with his own money because he had mentioned to me that the photographers were volunteers.

"It won't affect your school work?" I wondered.

She shook her head.

"No, my class is until the late afternoon so I'm good"

Okay, good.

"Will you be there?"

I looked at Adrian who smiled and shook his head.

"No, we've got a game but I gave Sabs a check"

It was a generous donation.

"So who's your date?"

"I don't have one, but Marisol's cousin, Desiree will be there" I stated.

"Oh, cool. Is she taking her medals as well?"

Desiree was a retired soccer player who played for the US National Team from 2011-2015. She won an Olympic Gold Medal with the team as well as a World Cup title.

"Yes," I confirmed.

"This should be fun"

I took a sip of my water and watched as Adrian placed his credit card in the slip that the waitress had placed on the table.

"Looks like Sonia will be meeting Alicia and his family there" I disclosed.

Stevie scrunched up her nose.

"Poor girl, hope she has back up"

I'm sure Christian gave her an extra ticket for a plus one. Who would it be though? Kenia and Bobbi were back in Nashville.

"If she doesn't I hope Christian isn't stupid to leave her alone with his mom"

Fingers crossed.

"But he is an idiot when it comes to that"

That he was.

"You get along with this one's mom, right?"

Adrian snorted.

"My mom adores her"

"She's the best" I admitted.

She missed having her son home.

"You're going to visit her when you're in Sweden, right?" I asked.

He chuckled.

"Yeah, we're having dinner"

Even though they were apart most of the time, Adrian was a momma's boy at heart and I loved that about him.
