A/N: The part two y'all didn't ask for but are getting
Violet briefly opened her eyes, almost immediately closing them again. It was nowhere near dark outside, how late had she slept in? The next thing she registered was the absence of the body next to her. Almost instinctively she called out, or at least tried to, getting a broken hiss that tickled her throat as a result. Then, the coughing.
She had never had such a dry cough last this long in her entire life, nor had it ever shook her body this bad. Every slight movement felt like she'd been hit by a bus, or maybe even a semi. Either way, it fucking hurt. Straining her voice again, Violet attempted to swallow to perhaps help her speak better.
She had never had knives drug through her neck, going from the bottom of her jaw to her collarbones, but she assumed it felt something like this. She almost immediately whimpered, the small noise making the tickle in her throat come back stronger. She coughed a bit longer, whimpering at the pain, before she could hear someone quickly place down the TV remote and make their way towards her.
Within seconds, Clementine was next to the bed, grabbing Violet's hand and holding her still. Violet, obviously having not learned from the past, tried to speak again, only to end up coughing once more.
“Hey,” Clementine soothed, hand reaching out to gently rub Violet's back. “Don't try to talk.”
Violet complied, tilting to lay on her back, onto to feel a sudden dense feeling on her throat. She felt like she couldn't breath, and gasping for air was only making her throat tickle. This lead to coughing as she desperately tired to breath. She hadn't even processed Clementine’s hand on her shoulder, quickly pushing her so she was leaning over the side of the bed.
“Don't try to swallow. Just lean over the bed, Vi. Breathe.” She informed, holding Violet's shoulder and continuing to rub her back. When the coughing stopped, for what she hoped was the last time, she spoke up again. “Lick your lips. It helps breathe.”
Violet stared at the wood floors, every so often wetting her lips. She panted lightly, weakly trying to bring her hand to her forehead. She couldn't. She felt like she couldn't even lift a finger.
“Don't try to move, Vi. Just sit here for A minute, I'm gonna go get the medicine, alright?” Clementine eased, earning a small whimper from the blonde. She frowned immediately, moving back over and pushing back the strands of blonde hair that were matted to Violet's forehead. “I'm not going anywhere. It'll be a few seconds, Vi. I promise.”
Violet couldn't even make another sound of protest before Clementine had speed walked out the door, presumably into the kitchen to grab said medicine. She hadn't felt this empty in her entire life. Staring at the floor, barely noticing the backs of her shoes in her line of sight, Violet was suddenly hit with a realization. Today was Monday.
To say generally that she was a hard person to get up in the morning wouldn't have been a lie. But this was a whole new level of hard. She could only roll herself onto her back again, licking her lips in attempts to make it easier to breath. She thought her leg might have been moving, but she wasn't entirely sure. Not only could she not see it as she stared straight up, her whole entire body either felt numb or like glass. Any movement felt like it could and would shatter every bone in her body.
Now, she couldn't breathe again. She tried to roll herself back over, ignoring the steps padding her way, only to find herself still on her back. This was a problem. She felt like she was choking, and there wasn't any reason for her to be. Not to mention, she was most definitely late for work.
“Damn it, Violet!”
She could feel herself being turned over the side of the bed once more, graciously taking in breaths.
