Monster Under Your Bed

"Violet...?"

Violet glanced up from her book to the door of her and Clementine's room, raising an eyebrow as AJ nervously fidgeted. Clementine was on a business trip, and had been since early morning of the previous day, leaving her and AJ in the house alone.

"What's up, buddy?"

AJ took a step closer towards the left and empty side of the bed, looking at the floor nervously. "Can I sleep with you...? I'm...I don't wanna sleep in my room, I'm scared..."

Violet furrowed her eyebrows, closing her book with her thumb to keep her page. "What're you scared of?"

AJ shrugged. "I don't like not being able to see...I think there's something in my room."

Violet relaxed, taking her glasses off. "Like a monster?" When AJ nodded, Violet sighed, putting both her book and her glasses to the side. "Yeah, but you gotta sleep on Clem's side,"

AJ grinned happily, jumping up and onto Clementine's side of the bed. He scurried under the covers, spreading himself out and smiling as Violet turned off the light.

"Good night, AJ,"

"Good night, Violet. Thanks for protecting me against the monster,"

Violet grinned with her eyes closed, turning her back to him and putting her hands under her cheek.

"I'm not worried, buddy! They only eat kids, anyways,"

"Wait, AJ, im kidding please don't cry-"
