Shitty Day

Violet stumbled out of her apartment, sniffing and groaning in annoyance as she turned around to lock the door. Not only had she woken up late, but she had also woken up sick. She had just started a new job, and couldn't afford to miss a day just yet. Her toast had burnt, shower water nearly freezing, and phone uncharged. Today simply wasn't her day.

The frown on her lips could've been considered contagious had she been around her friends, but all that surrounded her was a bunch of strangers, all on their way to something or other. She bobbed in between bodies, weaving in and out as she made her way through the crowd, simply intent on making her way to work.

A sudden wet feeling on her shoulder caused her to look over with furrowed eyebrows, only to frown deeper. “Seriously…?” She weakly huffed, fighting the urge to break into tears as she struggled to take off her sweatshirt. A bird had shit on it. Literally. It was her favorite sweatshirt, too, being that it was Clementine's.

She roughly pulled it off, balling the un-shat-on part up in her hands and carrying it instead. Her head hung low, eyebrows furrowed as she glared daggers into the pavement, only to feel another drop of wet on the back of her head. Looking up, she was hit with another drop of wet smacking her in the forehead, then another on the nose. Other drops of rain hit her arms, slowly turning into what could be considered as downpour as she walked.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, reminding her of its existence. Glancing around the now emptying sidewalks, Violet took notice of the overhang to an apartment that had only one or two people inside, quickly slipping in herself. She brought her lower lip up, collecting the drop of rain that had started to run down her face, only to see a message from Clementine.

Home Run: Good news
Home Run: So I know you aren't busy tomorrow, cause Brody sent me your schedule last night and said she told u to not make any plans,
Home Run: So I'm flying in
Home Run: Can't wait to kiss you all over your cute face (:
Home Run: Be safe getting to work, I love you

Violet was really tearing up this time.

Not because of the shitty start to her day, but the fact that with not even a full proper sentence, Clementine had managed to make her day better than it had been all week.

She hadn't seen her in a month, and the lack of Clementine in her life was killing her. Sending a quick reply, Violet stuffed the phone back in her pocket, moving from the overhang and stepping into the pouring rain, continuing her walk to work once more.

Me: I'm in love with you. I'll have
ice cream and snacks ready.
Me: You have my full permission to
tackle me when I pick you up at the airport
Me: Gonna be late, I'll text you after work.
I love you
