Understanding Him

Another tear was brushed away gently by his rough fingers yet, in a tender way. This guy never gives up on me. No matter how hard I try to push him away.

I pushed the duvets out of my way, sweeping my hair to the back as I sat upright. He slowly sat up, pursing his lips in a thin line.

"I don't understand. I have been trying to push you away ever since we first met. Yet, you never gave up on me. What's so special about me that you want to keep me by your side so much?" I asked, really annoyed by him.

I don't find myself special. I have a biological father who committed sins and left us to fend for ourselves. I have a mother who remarried and believed in her second chance more than her own daughter. And because I had a neglectful mother, I was raped by her very own second chance.

Which guy would still want a girl like me? If I came clean with him, maybe he wouldn't want me anymore. But, I just couldn't find myself to trust him with my past.

There was a complete silence for a moment as we stared at each other. Seeing him giving me a blank look, I looked down as my eyes focused on my laps.

"Because," His words made me look up as I stared into his eyes. "you being yourself made me fall hard for you. Even without the mate bond, I would still fall in love with you."

At this moment, my heart was beating rapidly like it was going to leap out any moment.

I felt a warm hand clamped over mine as he stared deeply into my eyes. "Do you trust me?" He asked, gently kissing my knuckles.

Upon hearing the word 'trust', my body froze. I blinked a few times, gritting my teeth tightly as I stared hard at the position of our hands.

I pulled my hand away from his, shifting to face the balcony. I retracted my legs, circling my arms around my knees tightly.

"Don't ever ask me that. I can never find an answer to that question." I dryly replied, resting my chin on my knees. I shut my eyes tightly, feeling hot tears escaping from the corner of my eyes.

I felt a hand rest on my back before I was pulled towards a hard chest. His arms snaked around my waist tightly, leaving soft kisses on the back of my neck.

I felt my shoulders sagged as I leaned my head against one side of his shoulder blade. At times like this, he had his own way to calm me down.

"I won't ask you why. But, I know you will tell me when you are ready." His words made me feel so grateful for once. I opened my eyes, tears blurring my vision once more.

I need a drink to clear my mind.

After I had confirmed that he was asleep, I crept out of the bed. I crept silently until I reached the kitchen. From there, I began my hunt for liquors.

My face lit up at the sight of scotch after searching the fourth cupboard. Pouring it on a cup, I began downing the drink in one go.

After a few more shots, I felt myself feeling tipsy. I guess I was becoming prone to scotch after not touching liquor for quite a long period of time.

But it never failed to lift up my spirit, no matter how depressing I felt.

Feeling that I had enough tonight, I stood up, trying to balance my steps. I was about to fall when a pair of arms caught me.

I heard an audible sigh, immediately knowing who it was. I looked up to see a worried Nathaniel, concern flashed across his eyes. He looked over my shoulders to find his scotch empty.

I hung my arms around his neck as I tried to keep myself from falling. "Sorry, I will pay you back another time." I burped in an unladylike manner before covering my mouth immediately.

I held onto his arms as I tried to steady myself. Before I could take another step, I felt myself being lifted up in his arms in bridal style as he walked back to the bedroom in silence.

He put me down on the bed gently, tucking strands of hair behind my ears. I could feel his husky breath fanning my face, his face inches away from mine.

Momentarily, I could feel myself leaning in with my propped elbows supporting me. His hand held the back of my neck before his lips crashed onto mine. This time with no intention of resisting him, I shut my eyes tightly and gradually deepened the kiss.

Our lips moved in sync as my fingers tugged on his hair, gently pulling his head back once in a while as I caught my breath. After a few times of having his head pulled to the back, he began trailing kisses down my neck everytime he sensed that I was out of breath.

His hands travelled down my sides, gently lifting up my shirt as it revealed my flat belly. His hands began making its way to the top as it brushed against my skin.

Yet again, it reminded me of the scene.

I felt myself shiver when his hands brushed past my sides. A slight shiver halted his actions immediately. His eyes turning back to its usual color once more.

I felt my breathing hastened, gradually opening my eyes.

The first thing I saw was a blurry figure of him pulling my shirt back down before he climbed to the other side of the bed, pulling the duvets over him.

Though I wasn't any sober, I could still feel his disappointment when I had indirectly showed him that I feared of his touch in our heated make-out session.

I looked over to see his back facing me. I crept to his side, silently lacing my hand with his. I felt his hand on mine tightened.

"I am sorry. I am not ready..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say. It was like I had just swallowed a lump in my throat, I had never felt so nervous in my life before.

I guess sucking up to guys isn't my forte. That was one of the reason why I would rather keep away from guys.

But, he is different.

I felt a hand on my cheek brought me back to reality, making me look up in astonishment. "Don't worry, babe. I will wait until you are ready."
