I had texted Raven-girl, that is, Sylvia, to see if she wanted to meet up at the Full Mug after school today. She texted back, Sure! That sounds great!
The school-day had been particularly uneventful, thanks to Christian convincing me peace and harmony with Clara and her friends was the high road. I wasn't too content about it though.
Sylvia and I were talking at one of the booths. "So Sylvia, how's your freshman year going?" I asked. She squinted her eyes and then looked at me. "Yeah, not great...looks like sophomore year is going well for you, though." I chucked a little, "What do you mean?" She looked at me incredulously, "Well, you're telling me you were a nobody at your last school and now you hang out with some of the most popular guys at our school, not to mention the hottest."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Then I thought of something. "Why don't you start sitting with us?" I asked. She looked like she was going to say no, but then her lips curled up into a smile, "Um, yeah, that'd actually be cool." "Great!" I chirped, "Then I'll see you at the caf tomorrow."

"Guys this is my friend Sylvia!" I announced at the lunch table the next day. Everyone already seemed to know her but were just as welcoming to her and said, "Hey Sylvia! What's up?" We all chowed down on grilled cheese sandwiches and parmesan-tomato soup, and the guys were roasting each other about who the best football player at the table was. Sylvia looked like she was getting more and more comfortable as the minutes went by during lunch hour. She herself had mentioned she thought all the guys at the table were hot and that must have phased her at first.
Drew and Tyler were chatting her up, taking turns asking her about classes and her work at Bea's Ice Cream. Christian was sitting across from me today, but he was being rather broody and quiet. I didn't bother asking him in front of everyone what was going on today. I'd ask him later. I ended up talking most of the time with Sylvia and Drew. I think Drew thought she was cute.
I got up to get a cookie at the snack bar when I realized Clara couldn't stop staring at me, then back and Sylvia sitting at the table with the boys. She didn't even try to hide her distaste today. Ignore her, I thought. Christian told me to leave her be, and I would . . . for now.
