Ari
I was sitting on her bed waiting for her to get home.
I don't know why the fuck I had this tight knot in my stomach that was sending waves of nerves through me every so often.
Maybe because now that we were together, all the stakes were higher. There was a greater chance of losing everything, of losing her.
No Ari, for fuck's sake you can't think like that. You have just got her back.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to calm myself. Flashes of her swam in front of my eyes. The gleam in her green eyes when she leans into kiss me, the way she throws her head back and laughs, the way her cheeks feel in my hand when I cup her face.
My eyes opened slowly and there was a soft smile on my face. She could turn everything around for me. For better or for worse.
I looked around the room and made sure everything was set. I checked the time on my phone. Fuck. She was going to be here any second.
Did I need to fucking pee now?! REALLY? Nope. Not happening. I was not peeing right now. But then what if I absolutely had to pee just as she got here? But what if I was in the bathroom and she walked into the room? FUCK.
Fuck it, the more I delayed, the more chance there was of her getting here and me being in the bathroom. I tiptoed across the room taking big but slow strides to the door. Luckily the bathroom was just outside her room.
I relieved myself making sure I emptied everything, every last drop and washed my hands. This was NOT happening again when she came. So I opened her bedroom door slowly again and tiptoed in ever so carefully. I resumed my position on the bed, quickly glancing over and making sure nothing had moved.
I straightened out her cotton bed sheets around me as I noticed they had crumpled since I was sitting on them for so long.
I heard the door downstairs click open and my eyes shot to the bedroom door as I tried to figure out if it was her or not. Whoever it was went into a room downstairs and I still didn't know if it was Sierra or not.
My heart was thrumming in my chest so loud, it was as if it was echoing and the veins in my body were following its lead.
I could hear steps coming up the stairs becoming louder and louder as the person got closer. They opened the door of the bedroom and as fast as my smile grew wide, it shrunk again and turned into annoyance.
"Ari?! What...oh...OH" Zack looked at me with absolute shock and his mouth open.
He looked around the room "Sorry, I just came here to borrow Sierra's charger.." he trailed off and stood there bringing his hands up to his face as his cheeks turned pink.
"Right, well you can't come in" I sighed.
"I can see that. She's lucky you know? She just took too long to see it" he met my eyes and nodded his head.
"Yeah well I'm not really a patient guy but for her I would do it" I don't know why that came out of my mouth at this point but it did. Maybe if he could see through Sierra when I knew she hid so much from everyone, then he could see through me too.
"I know you would. I see it in the way you look at her. Sometimes I wish my boyfriend would look at me the way you look at her" his gaze dropped to the floor staring long and hard at it with a sad smile on his lips.
I was about to open my mouth and say something when "Hello is anybody home?!"
My eyes grew wide and Zack broke out of his reverie.
