She gave a slight smile, her eyes read sad and lonely, while her smile read happy and excited. Theodosia tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear (which always drove Philip crazy when she did), and nibbled her lip trying to find the right words to say.
Philip stared at her, his heart thundering and his eyes watering. He was frozen, speechless, didn't know what to say to the only girl he ever loved but ignored for years. He went to open his mouth to speak, but her soft harmonious Voice wrang out.
"It's very nice to see you again Mr. Hamilton." Theodosia said softly, curtsying.
This made Philip blush and shudder as he said her name. He hadn't heard her true Voice with her face since.... that day she said goodbye. Philip felt the tears come back, but held them in.
"Theo... I-" Philip took a step towards her reaching out but was interrupted.
"Please Philip, don't." She interrupted quickly looking away, taking a step back.
Philip could hear the hurt in his voice, this is what broke him the most. Did he really hurt her that much as he thought? He pressed on though, taking more steps toward her, gently grabbing her gloved hand. She stared at his hand in his then looked him in the eyes. He finally saw the tears streaming down her face, the red puffiness of her eyes, and her makeup left streaked.
"Theodosia... we need to talk about-" Philip managed to choke out tears now forming in his, but yet again the young Burr interrupted.
"What is there to talk about Philip?" She said, so much hurt in her voice. "You chose to stop. I'm sorry I wasn't here, I'm sorry I moved, I'm sorry you're to good for me, I'm sorry you found other girls, I'm sorry I loved you." Theodosia pulled her hand away and started walking fastly toward the balcony.
Philip stood staring after her, a tear running down his cheek. He really hurt her.... and she did love him. His childhood crush actually liked him all along... but he messed it up. He through away his shot. He shook his head and decided to follow her, he had to at least apologize.
"Theo..." He said, stepping out on the balcony, shutting the door. The girl stood, back facing him, her hair blowing in the wind. Her hands rested on the balcony, sometime a hand going up to rib her eyes and /or nose.
Philip took a deep breath and stood a foot behind her. "Theo I didn't mean to leave you.... hanging...." he started, but became a loss at words. "I.... my dad... took the letter... he saw it I guess... and..." he was cut off when she turned to him. Her beautiful brown eyes shimmered in the starlight, yet, so did her tears. Her lips were slightly parted as their eyes connected.
Green, Brown.
"Y-your Father hid... the-?" She stuttered out taking a step towards him.
Philip nodded, now starting to cry. "I thought you were ignoring me, and so I was dumb and petty and just I really really liked you- well I still like you of course! But I thought you found another guy and I couldn't-" he started rambling as Theodosia looked at him and started to smile.
"Philip-"
"-like I know it's a girl's school and for manners and everything but like guys live there well around there and so I got mad so I even tried to date around but they were all ugly and you're pretty so I didn't want to swoop low-"
"Pip-"
"Because.... well I liked you... alot. I mean I like you, I still like you. That's probably why I got so upset... well I mean maybe it's more than like... Theo I just really missed you and-"
Theodosia wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him gently.
Philip's eyes went wide, but he soon closed them, grabbing her waist and pulling her closer. It was a passionate kiss, each one waiting to have done this since they were in their early teens. Theodosia carefully pulled away and cupped his cheek.
"Stop talking." She said, winking.
"I'm a Hamilton, I can't help-"
Theodosia Burr kissed Philip Hamilton again.
