Not so Natural

Chapter Eight -Breakfast at Moore's-

Alex showed up early that morning. He had a bag slung over his shoulder and a inconspicuous box. Cecilia answered the banging from the storefront with a groggy look and clumsy feet. "What?" she asked rubbing her eyes before slipping large black glasses frames onto her face. "You wear glasses? Nerdy cupcake!"Alex said with a frankly shit-eating grin. She gave him the finger then grabbed his arm pulling him inside. "Ooh, someone is handsy early in the morning!" he said with a laugh. "Cassie! Get the boys! I'm making breakfast! You too, Danny Phantom!" she called up the stairs. "So that's where he disappeared to!" Alex said with and snap. They heard the laud banging of five pairs of feet running down the stairs. "What are we having?" Cassadee asked sitting at the table. Nico leaned over to whisper in his older brother's ear. "Hey mom? Nico asked if he can have pancakes with chocolate chip shapes," Justin asked for his middle brother. "Sure thang, chicken wang!" she replied making the three older boys burst into fits of giggles. "Mommy can we help?" Lucas asked from his chair. "Sure, can you grab me the milk?" she answered with a small smile. He did as asked, but tripped spilling it on his older brothers and himself. Cecilia sighed, "Boys, go get changed. Justin help Nico and Lucas." The three little boys trudged up the stairs taking their baby brother with them. "Way to tell me you were coming here!" Alex snapped at his brother. "It's not my fault I have a girlfriend!" Daniel snapped right back. Cassadee got up and left the room to retrieve her phone. After several minutes of the two men fighting, Cecilia turned suddenly and launched the knife in her hand at the pair. They stared, stunned at the sharp object embedded in the plaster between them. They shifted their gaze to the girl across the room who looked as though she was imitating a deer in headlights. She suddenly darted for the door but slipped in the milk that never was cleaned up and slammed her head on the edge on the fridge. Cassadee reemerged at that moment to see what the commotion was about. "What did you do to my sister?" she asked half amused, half confused. "She fell," Alex said. "After she lobbed a knife at our heads," Daniel finished.  They all stared for a moment. Then Cassadee commanded, "Well don't just stand there! Carry her to her room!"
