Part 23: Butterfly

Once that whole situation was over, we thought we would be able to peacefully enjoy the rest of our lunch and just hang around doing normal friend stuff.

Wrong.

So very wrong.

Daniel and I, that had been standing next to each other, had literally been pulled apart by random people around us roaring with questions. I couldn't even freaking follow what any one of them was saying and it made me a bit irritated. And by a bit I mean I was pretty pissed. I put my hand up and waited for them to calm down on their own before I lose my patients. Soon enough they did what I wanted and examined at me with confused eyes.

"Hey uh guys could you please talk one at a time I really can't understand what you are saying when everyone is screaming all at once," I gave them the best smile I could at the moment making some of their faces brighten with color.

Idiots.

Some of them looked at each other until someone spoke up from the back.

"Y/n are you going to be performing?" The rest nodded eagerly and waited for my response.

...

"What?" I asked in confusion.

Performing? What the hell are these lunatics on about?

"At the school festival!" Someone yelled answering her question.

"You should do it y/n you would do great!" Another random guy cheered gaining many other guys to cheer along.

"Maybe she can be in the slave auction!" One guy yelled only to be hit on the head by another guy.

"That's just for guys idiot."

I brought her finger up to her lip teasingly and pretended to think.

Hell no.

"I'll think about it," I started to walk forward with the guys slowly making room for me to get past, thankfully. I looked around for a bit only to see Daniel in the same situation except he didn't know how to handle it. I snickered and turned away leaving the boy to be mauled by the females. I looked around a bit more only to noticed Vasco standing in front of me with a tear running down his face.

Oh, what the hell.

I quickly walk up to him pull out a napkin and wiped his tear causing him to look down at me with his blank face. I smiled up at him and held his head in my hands.

"Don't cry your face will get all puffy and we don't want that do we?" He didn't respond but took the napkin out of my hand and held it gently in his hands. Neither of us noticing the fuming Daniel behind us.

-3rd Pov-

He had been watching the whole time from when Y/n was surrounded by random dudes to this moment right now. He swiftly walked up to them and grabbed Y/n's shoulder making her involuntarily flinch a bit before turning her head over only to see it was only Daniel.

"Y/n do you mind staying here with me after school?" He asked her while staring at Vasco. Y/n looked between the two with a raised eyebrow and slowly nodded her head.

"Uh yeah sure. I don't have anything I have to do today," He smiled down at her and dragged her away from the room to somewhere else the two people watching did not know of. Without notice, Vasco had let a tear slip down his face as they left making Jace look at him in concern.

"Are you okay Vasco?"

Y/n had been watching from the windowsill with her arm supporting her head as her friend was mopping with a distant look in his eyes. She analyzed the way that his face contorted as he thought about something. After about 30 minutes of watching him mope she grew very very very bored and tried to start a conversation with him.

"What are you thinking about?" The sudden question made the male jump up a bit in surprise almost dropping the mop in his hands. He looked over at the girl taking in the way she looked at him at that moment. Those gleaming eyes intensely staring at him. He shuffled nervously in his spot before licking his lips avoiding making direct eye contact.

"Did you hear about the school festival?" he started hesitantly.

"Yeah, I have. What about it?" She replied not taking the gaze off of his figure that seemed to grow nervous with every passing second.

"Well I was thinking...maybe I could perform..."

...

She blinked a couple of times from the unexpected situation but let a small smile take over her face.

"I didn't know you could sing Daniel," She leaned forward a bit making the male nervous.

"Yeah but I mostly did it alone you know? Just for me." He paused for a second and looked back up to meet her eyes."Do you sing y/n?"

He expected her to scoff and say no way or just roll her eyes at him but instead.

She was laughing.

"Yes, I suppose I do. I took on a bit of rapping a while back," she held onto her wrists tightly as the memories if her time rapping came slowly back to her. While she nervously looked at her wrists Daniel was standing with gleaming eyes.

I wonder what her voice sounds like.

"Would you mind...singing with me?" Her eyes widened at his statement, and it was as if the whole rooms atmosphere had grown cold with the sudden action. He quickly tried taking back his statement before her raised hand interrupted him.

"I...I don't see why not,"

He made his way over to her and leaned on the windowsill and waited for something. Suddenly she started humming a small tune that he had recognized.

He started singing the beginning of the song lowly slowly becoming more confident as he went on. He was so focused on his voice he barely noticed when the girl next to him had started to sing along.

He paused for a second and watched as she sang lightly with her eyes closed. He slightly smiled before joining her again. Suddenly she bounced up from her seat on the rapping part and rapped in front of him with smiling brightly as she paced in front of him. He watched as she paced around in front of him the lyrics pouring out of her as if it were her own. She opened her eyes once the verse ended and they finished off the rest of the song loudly.

Once the song came to an end y/n was laughing with the most joy Daniel had ever seen on her face. She spun around before coming towards Daniel and wrapping an arm around him, sitting next to him on the window sill.

"Well that was fun wasn't it Danny?" she said with a light chuckle turning to face him only to gasp a bit at the closeness of their faces. She felt his breath on her face and the way that he stared right into her eyes was to intimate to stay calm about. She tried pulling back but with a quick act of boldness Daniel held her waist in place and continued to stare at her.

"yo, Daniel?"

"excuse me." she jumped up from his hold and got about 5ft away from him then looked over at the intruder only to see the...

"Oh hey Duke"
