─────✧・゚: *✧・A few weeks went by. Indifference turned into worry and doubts rose about the girl and her whereabouts. Not one sight of her, not even in the streets.
Daniel felt a pit growing in his stomach as he worried where the girl had gone as he reflected on his actions. How could he do that? He practically ignored her after the performance over a girl he liked!
He thought of it as he spaced out in class his friends urging him to pay attention or at least come back to earth. After her disappearance, he hadn't been looking so great, the guilt and worry weighing down on him after each passing day. Not a single call picked up or message answered.
He clenched the phone in his hand in his room, waiting for the familiar ping, only to be left alone once more with the deafening sound of silence through the night.
The days dragged by till finally he had been scooped up to sort out a scam situation with Zack. He was happy to be included in the group and used this as a distraction. He couldn't just stay grovelling she'll come back. She has to right?
This is horrifying! Why am I here???
His distraction, however, lead him to be in a fight with those that had scammed Zack. Zack had led the group into the fight after getting punched, leading up to an all up brawl. As he panicked at the situation, deciding what to do, a blond rested in an alley not so far away.
A put out cigarette by his feet was all that he dragged his attention to. Just being told he would get a lover when he stopped smoking made him drop it instantly. He hadn't taken Y/n l missing very well either, the silence in the seat next to him everyday making him feel more lonely than he thought possible.
He heard footsteps tapping by the alley and looked up, expecting to see more guys to beat up only to have his breath caught in his throat. There she was.
Her footsteps came into view in the alley, her figure walking straight and elegant as if there was not a care in the world that she possessed. He thought he was having a vision. That the very sight of her was a mirage, but that was not the case as she glanced over at him and gave a small smile.
She shifted out of view and walked away, the small patters of her steps growing quite in the distance. He only sat there staring at the put out cigarette once more pondering the reality of the situation. Could it have been a vision?
Soft patters filled the streets as the girl wondered towards the specified location. Looking around at anything trying to find something to entertain her. Suddenly the sound of punching, yells and heavy ragged breaths filled her ears, making her shiver in the familiar feel of the situation.
She stood outside of the alley on her phone waiting till the punched quieted down, eyeing the car that had been parked nearby with a knowing stare. Finally, after minutes of waiting, she heard the noise quiet down and the sound of footsteps reaching her place outside the alley.
The first to notice her was Zack with his hair messy and out of place, blood dripping down his face. He thought he got punched too hard when seeing her. All he did was stare openly at her, not worried about being judged, thinking that only he could see her till he heard the meek voice of Daniel call out behind him.
"Y/n?" The rest of the group snapped their head over to the girl, confused about why she would randomly appear? How she found them? Why she was dressed fancily? But all these questions being replaced by the relief to see her in front of them after weeks.
"Hey. Zack, you look musty. Man, that's a lot of damage," she said, glancing towards the alley where scammers were left bleeding and groaning with a disgusted look, happy she wasn't the one to clean that up.
"HEY IT WASN'T ME-"
"Y/n where did you go? What happened? How did you find us?"Daniel came in front of Zack's outrage, trying to figure out what happened and why she was there. He asked questions everyone seemed to forget.
"Ah, I had a talk with my old man. I just got a pointer to come here. Just my luck you were still here." She cracked her knuckles after talking and took in their gazes, one of them looking really lost but he's just a little slow.
I really know nothing about her. Daniel stared at her from in front of the group, a confused expression still plastered on his face. I know nothing about her family, or what she does. I don't know what she likes to do in her free time. I don't know her story. I don't know her. But she also doesn't know me.
"Shouldn't we get away from here in case someone spots us? I don't wanna deal with that honestly" She started walking away, the rest of the group following except Daniel that trailed behind as they kept asking her questions that she would answer vaguely as usual.
Before they knew it the days had passed with Y/n back in her regular seat like nothing had happened. Life went on and midterms were coming, but Daniel couldn't shake the feeling of dread he felt from not knowing anything about her.
He tried catching her alone to ask her to study. He needed to talk to her to get some closure, but each time he went for it there was someone there. For a while he gave up and settled with studying with his friend as he needed to pass this test.
But suddenly the opportunity presented itself. There she was at her desk, no one around to bug her as she just woke up from a nap. He slowly approached and tapped her shoulder and stared as she looked over with a still half asleep expression.
"Hey Y/n, I was wondering if we could study together. Anytime is fine I just need to study." She was now fully awake. She looked incredulously at the boy and looked to think for a second.
"Only if Jay can come too. We've been studying together." She gave a nod in a direction showing him that the said blonde was approaching. The feeling of dread had come back as she mentioned another person joining, but he sucked it up and sat with them.
"So Y/n what does your dad do?"He had to know even if Jay was here, he probably wanted the answers just as much as him. He leaned in and looked at her nervously as she continued writing.
"Just some business. I swear he could sell anything he wants" Another vague answer.
"Oh, that's cool. What did you guys talk about that took so long?"
"Nothing important. Just settling some things."
"What do you mean?"
"Business stuff he needs to be reassured sometimes about his decisions."
"Wha-"
"Daniel, don't push it." She all but stuttered out, gaining some attention at the tone she used. She went to continue studying like nothing had happened, leaving two shell-shocked boys in her wake.
This sort of studying went on and on till the day of midterms came up. Y/n was one of the tops, but not 1st by any means. But she had been doing so well she could have gotten first. Almost like she had been holding back.
"Geez Y/n how did you do so good? I thought at least Daniel would be like me."Zack said, whining about his own score.
"I just had an expensive education"
Daniel's dread only continued to spread with the more time that went on without an answer from her. He doesn't want to give up and would like to know more about her and show her what his life was like too. He just never gets the chance and when he does, other people are there.
But a new chance has arrived.
A saving grace that may give him the answers he wants.
We are going to a bootcamp!
