These little hashtags pepper our lives. These are mine and how they represent me. At least that is how I wanted this book to be. It was to be a book of short articles using a hashtag as inspiration. However, it has grown and changed as I have.

Superstition is a pet peeve of mine. It is a topic I often debate in regards to religion and woo. However, with Christmas, consider a new element. Parents often battle with whether or not to tell their children the truth about Santa. When we live in a world where faith and magic is possible, then we fall into a slippery slope of not seeking natural answers for the questions we have. There is a real danger of blind faith, trusting authority, and lying. This leads to people believing in Flat Earth, Breatharians, and other long debunked woo.
However, I am a dreamer and I do want to create a world of magic which is why I write about it. There is a benefit to both having Santa and magic, but having natural reasons to get there. Stick with me, I'll explain.
A few years ago, I heard a story about a parent who was going through the very real problem of not wanting to lie to their children and building a foundation of mistrust, but their eldest was getting to that doubtful stage of whether or not Santa existed. Instead of giving an answer that could lead to mistrust, they were taught a lesson on charity and humbleness. They were taught how to give back without recognition and to do so for no other reason than to spread Christmas Joy.

I think we should encourage the idea of compassion and charity. Becoming a Santa is a great way to put this into action. Instead of telling someone Santa does or doesn't exist, explain how a person can create their own holiday magic. Pay it Forward in a holiday way, anonymously. Do it when its least expected. We can turn superstition into real-world magic fueled by human ingenuity.
In the comments, post ideas of how people can be a Santa for a rando.
