A/N Please take a moment to read, listen or watch to the original MLK, "I have a Dream..." as stated during the March on Washington in 1963. Some phrasing and repetition have been used in my version of the Dream Speech.  I will italicize the word for word phrasing to make it obvious that it is Dr. Martin Luther King's words and not mine.  He was an amazing orator.  Please take the #DreamChallenge and let MLK inspire your ideas for a new society.

Ode to MLK

I say to you today, my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.

It is a dream deeply rooted in human nature. I have a dream that one day our society will rise up, live up to its potential to protect life, all life down to its tiniest of beings to the sprawling forests of this great planet.

I have a dream that one day on the streets of Washington people will gather not for a protest against injustice, but to celebrate this societal shift of what was to what we will become.

I have a dream that one day we shall leave superstitions and traditions behind. No person can hide their prejudice and hate behind a robe or collection of mythos anymore. We shall call them out so that those around, can see the ignorance for what it really is- just being scared of change.

This will be a day when all of Earth shall be able to sing a new song of hope, kindness, and compassion. No longer will we be bound to religious or political biasies because we will be freed from the chains of blind faith.

And if America is to be a great nation, this dream must become true.

I want to live in a place where food is not born of death, where no one has to worry whether their food died in a less cruel way.

Let Freedom Ring.

I want to live in a world where people want to help each other knowing that one day they too might need help and that asking for help isn't a demarcation on your character.

Let Freedom Ring.

I want to live in a place where a 40-hour work week gives you enough for the basics (food, housing, utilities, education, and healthcare).

Let Freedom Ring.

I want to live in a world where you don't have to argue for your right to your pursuit of happiness and autonomy.

Let Freedom Ring.

I want to live in a place where children may go to school and not be shot. They should be able to sit on the front steps of their house without becoming a statistic whether they live in the Bronx, Inglewood, or the South Side of Chicago.

Let Freedom Ring.

When we allow freedom to ring- when we let it ring from every city and state, we can live in a place where no matter who you are, where you come from, what you believe... No person can create legislation based on opinion or religious ideology but be required to use facts- not 'alternative facts.' We cannot be free until we demand more accountability from our media, our government, and our community. We can get to live in a place where our leaders reflect our culture and society all while ensuring they have the training and tools to get there.

Who else wants to live in a world like mine?

I propose a radical idea- a drastic change and culture reset... to allow all people and animals to finally be able to sing, "Free at last, Free at last..."

What is your dream?
