10/31

It was Halloween. I usually don't make too much of this day because every year I just watch scary movies all day and eat popcorn, but my old friend from school, Katsumi, texted me and convinced me to go out. I wasn't really sure what to be but I didn't wanna go all out. I decided I was just going to wear a white t-shirt, shorts and pour some fake blood on my shirt.

I was obviously way too old to be doing any type of trick or treating, but my friend insisted on us going to a party. I agreed because it had been a really long time since I actually began to socialize with people and find people who genuinely made me happy.

She picked me up at 9:00, and she gave me a big hug when she saw me. "Wow Katsumi, you're a vampire. How creative," I teased. She rolled her eyes at me. "Just get in the car."

The car ride was quick, and we arrived at a mansion. "Who's house is this?" I immediately asked. "A friend of a friend," she replied, a big smirk on her face.

"Let's go," she said, grabbing my hand and dragging me towards the party.

As soon as we got in, a whole group of guys began to greet her.

"Hey Katsumi."

"You look great."

"Haven't seen you in a while."

"Who's your friend?"

When the last male said that, I averted my gaze to the floor. I wasn't trying to stand out. "Can I buy you a drink?" The same male said to me. I looked up at the man. He looked very professional. He was not wearing a costume, he was wearing a suit and tie and had a pair of thin-framed glasses on. He had grey eyes that seemed so calmーso relaxed. "Sure," I replied simply.

We walked over to the mini bar and he ordered us some drinks. "What's your name?" He asked politely. "(Name), and you?"

"Kishou," he replied softly.

After he introduced himself, our drinks came and we began to talk. I asked him simple questions about himself, as did he back. There wasn't anything very unique about him, though. Talking to him felt like I was talking to your average person. There just wasn't anything special about him. However, I continued the conversation out of politeness, and the more he talked the more drinks came, but I soon got to a point that I was too drunk to sit and continue this conversation.

"Excuse me, but I really need a breath of fresh air right now," I said, excusing myself from the bar. I got out of the house and sat down at the sidewalk infront, staring at the floor. Everything was a blur and I had so many thoughts in my mind.

And then all of a sudden, I began to cry. I cried harder then I had ever cried before. Tears kept streaming down my face and it was neverending. Why? Because I  had spent so much time searching for someone and have had no luck. And the emptiness in my heart that I felt, caused a pain greater then other.

And on top of all of this, it began to rain.

I closed my eyes, letting the rain drops hit me violently. My tears blended with the rain and I sat there peacefully, letting the rain hit me.

A gust of wind soon came and I shivered. But the feeling of cold was soon replaced with a warm feeling, as I felt two arms wrap around me. I opened my eyes, and the face infront of me was a blur. After a few seconds, I slowly realized..

It was Kaneki.

I hugged him back, resting my head on his shoulders. No words were exchanged but in this moment, none were needed. I wasn't sure if this was real, but nonetheless I never wanted to let go of the indescribable feeling that I felt right in this moment.
