The Cartel Part 2: A Thin Line

Kelsey sat on the balcony of her hotel suite, looking over the city of Miami .. In one hand was her divorce papers, and in the other was a glass of wine .. She had looked them over several times trying to make sure she wasn't missing anything, and from what she had gathered Shamar was being straight forward about everything. There wasn't any catch, and he wasn't trying to trick her .. He was doing everything he said he would do ..

Looking in on the kids one last time, she dialed his number. It only rung once before she heard his voice come through the phone ..

"Is this a good time ?" She asked

"Yeah, what's up ?" Shamar asked, his voice hoarse

"I wanted to talk to you about my name.." Kelsey began

"Your name ? What about it ?" He asked, sounding a bit confused

"I wanna keep my last name.." She said

Shamar laughed on the other end of the phone before coming to a sudden stop
"For what ?" He asked

Sighing, Kelsey expected that reaction "Because that's my kids last name .. and because I could care less about going back to my maiden name, you know that .." She replied

"You'll get married again.. you'll have more kids, that's if you don't abort his kid again .." Shamar said matter of factly

"Look Shamar, I didn't call to argue or beg you for it.. could you just please do this for me ?" She asked

"Kelsey I've already did more than I had to, you got money, you got the kids.. and as bad as I don't wanna give you the divorce I'm doing it .. but once you sign your name on that paper you're all his and I'll be damned if your last name be Carter while you laid up with that nigga .. if you gonna go then go ..but no parts of me going with you.." He said

Kelsey was silent as she fought with herself not to say what she really wanted to say, out of all the years she had been with Shamar she knew for a fact it had only been her and him in their relationship.. he was everything to her and she was everything to him but somewhere along the way things changed ..

"That's all you wanted?" Shamar asked, interrupting her thoughts

"Sasha's birthday.. we're doing a party ?" She asked

"That's what she wants.. you can get with her on the details, I'll pay for it .." He replied

"Okay.." Kelsey said

"That's it ?" Shamar asked

Silent, Kelsey wanted to ask him, why he gave up so quickly.. She wanted to ask him a lot of questions but instead she decided to end the conversation..It was no need in trying to fix something that had been broken for so long anyways..

"Yeah, that's it .." She said

"Alright" Disconnecting the call, Shamar laid back .. Trying to go back to sleep, he couldn't ..

With her cappuccino in one hand, Kelsey couldn't help but to smile at her kids .. After not being around them for so long she was spending every moment she could soaking up everything she had missed .. Everything from their laughs to their smiles to the way they interacted with one another.. All she was missing was Shamar Jr..

Hearing a knock at the door, she frowned .. She didn't know who it could've been considering nobody told her they were coming over and only a few knew where she was ..

But as she glanced out of the peep hole, she was faced with Gianni .. Confused, she opened the door ..

"What are you doing here ?" She asked, looking him up and down and peeking out around the corner

"Kelsey, this is my lawyer Howard Grant .. He came to look over the divorce agreement .." He said as he made his way inside of the penthouse suite

"Excuse me ?" She asked, as she frowned up.. watching him make his way inside

"We talked about this .." He said as he glanced over and smiled at the girls

Slamming the door shut, Kelsey sat her coffee mug down .. "Gianni let me speak to you in private, please .." Glancing at the lawyer she gave a slight smile before storming off down the hall .. She could hear Gianni's foot steps behind her as she neared her bed room .. waiting for him to enter she locked eyes with him as he entered the room then She closed the door

"Am I missing something ?" Gianni asked as he frowned up

"No, am I missing something ?!" Kelsey asked

"You said you wanted a lawyer to look over your papers right ?" He asked

"I told you Shamar doesn't want you around the girls right ? You trying to fuck this up for me ?! And why the hell are you being so persistent with this ? I told you I would come over there, plus it's 9 in the fucking morning Gianni .. you haven't gave me enough time to do shit let alone get ready to discuss my divorce which is non of your business by the way, I understand you wanna help but you need to chill !!" She yelled

Sighing, he shook his head .. "I was just trying to help you Kelsey .. I love you" He replied

" I don't need your help, I've looked over the papers myself .. everything is legit, I'm gonna sign them .." She said

"You sure ?" He asked

"I'm positive.." Kelsey replied

"Well, I'll head back .. I'll be at the hotel if you need me.." Kissing her cheek, Gianni walked out of the door followed by Kelsey "When you plan on stopping by ?" He asked

"Maybe tonight .." she replied, not really wanting to discuss it in front of her kids

Nodding, Gianni opened the door .. smiling at the girls, he followed his lawyer out ..

Closing the door, she locked it and sat by Sasha "You can't tell your dad about him coming over okay?" She asked

Staring at her, Sasha seemed unsure .. Which only confirmed Shamar told her to let him know if they ever saw Gianni.. Sasha had always been a daddy's girl and she knew her loyalty was always with her dad ..

"Please Sasha, he wasn't supposed to be here and you know how your dad is .." Kelsey said

Nodding, Hesitantly Sasha agreed "I won't tell him .." She said

Smiling, Kelsey stood up "Thank you .. Could you watch your sister ? I'm gonna shower and then we're gonna go meet your Aunt Paris at the mall so we can discuss your party !!" Standing up, Kelsey watched as Sasha smiled and agreed

Dialing Paris' number she headed into the bathroom..

"Hello.." Paris said

"Can you meet me at the mall ? I wanna get started on Sasha's party, plus .. I really need to talk to you P.. like really talk to you .." She said

"Of course, how does a hour sound ?" Paris asked

But as soon as those words escaped her mouth, Kelsey heard a loud scream coming from the kitchen ..

"What the hell was that Kelsey ?" Paris asked

Running towards the kitchen, Kelsey was looking around but she only saw her youngest daughter .. Sitting in her high chair .. the door of the hotel was cracked .. It was then she knew something was wrong ..

"Sasha !!" She yelled, running outside she looked around but she didn't see her anywhere .. "Sasha !!" Kelsey yelled again

She could hear Paris on the other end yelling, calling Shane's name but she couldn't focus on anything but finding her daughter .. She searched through every room of the hotel but didn't find anything ..

Her face was drenched with tears, as she broke down in the middle of the floor and put the phone to her ear .. "Paris, call Shamar .. now !!"
