Dean x Reader

Request by the wonderful @NyctoNyx! I hope this is okay I think I rewrote it four times haha. I may revisit this plot again later there were just too many ways to go with it!

After returning from Purgatory the reader struggles to leave behind the memories of her time there.

Moving, you just had to keep moving, that was the key. Stopping could mean death, and you didn't plan on dying in this hell hole. Walking forward your eyes continuously moved to scan your surroundings. You felt them before you saw them, the hairs on your neck standing to attention. Tightening your grip on the crude blade you carried you kept moving as though you had no idea you were being followed.

Just as you heard the crunch of leaves under a foot you ducked, a pair of arms wrapping around the air above your head. Turning around as you stood you brought up the blade, slashing through the stomach of the vampire. Hissing he fell to the ground, before it could utter a word you removed its head on your back swing.

Never stopping you knew there were more, you began running, the direction no longer mattered, only that you kept moving. The next to come out was a werewolf, the woman had a twisted smile on her face letting you know she would enjoy ripping your heart out. Rushing forward you moved to the right as she swung, landing a quick punch to her jaw as you brought up your right fist you smiled at the satisfying crunch.

As she recovered she landed a few hits of her own, first to your head then two to your stomach. Breathing in you waited as she tried for another blow, just as her arm came forward you threw the blade up. Reaching over her arm you quickly pushed against her elbow, dislocating the joint. As she screamed in pain you turned to catch the handle of your blade, continuing with the force it held you finished the swing cutting clean through her neck.

Warm wet blood sprayed onto your face, without thinking you instantly wiped some of it only smearing it in the process. A raw, unhinged grin spread across your face as you looked at the body. Hearing something else you quickly looked around. You knew that sound, the only one you truly feared in this place, Leviathan. Running as fast as you could your only hope to make it out alive was through the same portal Dean escaped through before. After torturing a few monsters and remembering what Dean said you knew what direction to head in.

As you came around a grove of trees you saw it, at the top of a cliff, the portal. Smiling your first genuine smile since you arrived you began quickly closing the distance. Just as you reached the base of the cliff you heard it once more, they were coming. Using every bit of adrenaline you had you began climbing frantically, so close to freedom, to him. Reaching the ledge just below you could practically feel their hands reaching out to grab you. Coming only a few steps away you smiled as you stepped forward towards the light.

Suddenly a strong grip held tight to the back of your neck, pulling you backwards you watched as the portal grew farther away. Screaming you knew you lost, you missed your chance, you missed him. Fighting back with everything you had you tried to escape their grasp as you watched the portal begin to close.

"Y/N!"

The faint sound of his familiar voice, of him saying your name brought tears to your eyes.

"Y/N!"

Closing your eyes you knew it was over, eventually you stopped resisting, "I'm sorry Dean."
