Chapter 6:

• Alpha Jabari's POV •

(The day that Maha meets Owie)

I woke up to my natural alarm, the rising sun. The arrangement of colors from light pink, violet and yellow dipped across the sky signaling the start of a new day.

As I became more aware of my surroundings, I felt something soft and heavy on me. I glanced down and my eyes found a sleeping naked form lying on my chest, it was a woman. Suddenly last night played through my mind:

'Jabari, your father and I need to talk with you. Immediately!' Salim mind-linked her son with great apprehension filling her voice.

Jabari, who had been training the male youth about how to control their inner lion, became stiff at the tone of his mother's voice.

'What's wrong, Ma? Did something happen..... is it father? Are you alright? Is the doctor there?' He hurriedly replied back through their private conversation.

The younger boys glanced at each other in worry as they saw their recent Alpha unease with a concentrated look on his beautifully sculpted face. It wasn't an unusual thing amongst them to stop and mind-link one another however it was very unusual to see their Alpha look very perturbed.

'Everything is fine, the doctor says your father is alright...... But he urgently calls for you......'

There was a pause, Jabari relaxed a little but he wondered what could be the matter.

Immediately Jabari mind-linked his Beta to take over the training.
'Amare, I need you to take over the training. Family calls.'

'Of course, I'll be there in a minute.' Amare was Jabari's second in charge and his most trusted friend.

"Your beta shall be your teacher till I return, make sure to listen to everything he tells you." Jabari told the children as he bent down to their level.

"Yes Alpha." They replied disappointed. They had wanted him to stay because he was the most interesting teacher.

Jabari stood up and began to shift. His powerful muscles rippled and extended, he was now on the ground as paws and claws appeared where his hands and feet had been just moments ago. His long dreads slowly transformed into a vast mane, a powerful jaw filled with canines and carnassial teeth supplemented his fearsome appearance, a long tail with a tuft of hair at the end lengthened and lastly the signature white diamond shaped birthmark appeared at his heart. It took nothing but 2 seconds before a mighty lion with golden fur stood before the children.

The children watched in fascination as they bowed their heads, someday they hoped to be as mighty as him.

As Jabari turned around to leave, Amare's large brown lion suddenly appeared. Jabari nodded his massive lion's head at him and the gesture was also returned.

Jabari ran towards the private hospital, used only for the Alpha and his family, which was a wide and medium sized building hidden among the trees.

As Jabari reached the hospital he shifts back into his human form, with all his glory at full attention. One of the guards that stood outside the hospital door fetched a wrap for him. Jabari muttered his thanks after getting dressed before he marched through the entrance of the hospital.

"Jabari, what did I tell you about barging in?! Good Lord, your noises are so loud, it could've woken up the dead." His graceful and young mother exclaimed when she spotted her son.
