"So you're saying that you were the girl I helped?" Hyunjin stares at the older one as they sat down on the couch in his living room. Heerin nods. She has been wanting to let everything out from her chest, but there'll always be something blocking her way. But not today. Today, she'll tell him the truth. Everything."Why would you be scared to tell me about this?" The boy chuckles slightly which makes Heerin fidgets in her spot uncomfortably. "Hwang Kihyun" she blurts out between gritted teeth. "Huh?" Hyunjin tilts his head. He feels his inside twist at the mention of the name he's been trying to forget. "Who? Please just don't bring up any random names. I don't have time for this" he turns off the television, standing up on his feet as he turns his back on her. "Your father, Hwang Kihyun. Am I right?" Hyunjin stops in his track. His legs are as if glued to the floor.
"I have no idea who you're talking about" hyunjin started to grow impatient. Emotions took control over his actions. "2013. An accident between two vehicles. 1 married couples and 1 family with a daughter. 3 people died. One had minor injuries and one was rushed to the emergency department, but was successfully saved and he was charged guilty for driving in detoxicated state of mind" heerin held herself back from bursting out tears in front of him. She needs conformation. "Do you remember now? I think I've explained it throughly" Hyunjin bites onto his bottom lips, hard that he can taste his own blood.
"He's not my father. He's a murderer" he told. Heerin scoffed. "Indeed. He killed my parents. Both of them. You can't believe how much I've suffered because of him" hyunjin is taken aback by the words fluttered out from her mouth. His eyes growing big in surprise. Heerin's voice cracking and the bitterness in it sends daggers to his heart. Heerin can't help but let the threatening tears fall like a waterfall. She falls to the couch, cupping her mouth to prevent loud sobs from escaping her lips.
Hyunjin stares at her broken form with sad and apologetic eyes. After all, the guy who makes Heerin and him go through hell is his own father. Hyunjin sits beside her. He wants to comfort the crying girl, but he has no idea how. Out of habit, he takes her hand in his big ones, squishing her hand in a comforting way. It was the same gesture as his mum always did to comfort him back then and never once did it fail to make him feel better.
Heerin looks up to be met with his beautiful, sad brown orbs. She chuckles to herself. Hyunjin eyebrows furrowed. "Why am I even crying?" She laughs to herself again only to be stopped by the younger's action. Hyunjin pulls her into his embrace, stroking her head gently as if she's the most precious thing on the world. As if she can break into a million fragments if he does it anymore stronger.
"U-uh" Heerin tries to free herself, but he just tightened the hug. "Stay" he told. Heerin presses her lips into a thin line and lets the warmth wrapped around her securely. They stayed in the same position for quite a long time before that older spoke.
"Hyunjin?" she calls. Hyunjin hums still not moving. "Are you sleeping?" She asks and he replies with a 'no'. Heerin takes that as a sign and proceeds to voice out about the thought she has been wanting to say. "Remember when I told you I really want to meet my life saver?" Hyunjin keeps quiet, but a smile slowing creeps up on his lips. She averts her gaze on the bracelet she's wearing. A wide grin spreads across her face. "I wanted to give this back to you" She takes the bracelet off from her wrist and grabs Hyunjin's hand before locking it around his wrist.
"I'm glad that it's you. Thank you, Hyunjin-ah"
