Finally, it was the last day of school.
Blake sat nearly all alone in a classroom, he had to make up a final exam that he'd miss because he had a dentist appointment. All of his other friends were setting up for the big bonfire on the beach while he was finishing up his exam.
He finished and ran out of school, Reese was waiting for him in the parking lot, their tent was in the back seat of his Jeep. Reese grinned and started the car as Blake climbed in.
Blake leant over the centre console and kissed Reese quickly, Reese smiled, "how did you do?"
"Great. Now, let's go."
The beach was an hour away, Blake turned up the radio and lifted his hands up as the wind ruffled through his hair. No more school, he'd get the entire summer to spend with Reese. Now that they were out of school, Blake and Reese were spending the week camping on the beach, just the two of them. Blake couldn't wait.
Gabe and Dory were waiting for them, Dory and some other jocks were gathering driftwood for the bonfire. Gabe was skewering hot dogs and other assorted foods. Nikki and her girl friends were playing volleyball nearby. It was lively and relaxed and fun.
Blake couldn't help but admire Reese as he stripped off his shirt and absorbed the sunlight with a happy laugh. "Come help set up our tent, Blake."
Their tent was grey and big enough for their foldable cot mattress. They had it set up in a couple minutes and joined the girls in playing volleyball. When they got sweaty, they ran into the ocean and splashed around, Blake ran at Reese and knocked him down under the shallow waves and while hidden under the water he kissed him.
Coming up for air, they were laughing and Reese draped an arm around his shoulder, his wet skin was still crazily warm. The sun started going down and the sky turned from blue to pink to orange to a rich red. Everyone sat on the beach to watch the sun dip below the horizon, couples cuddled and spoke softly. Blake wanted to be like them and snuggle up to Reese but he sat at a friendly distance. Reese's eyes were locked on the sunset but his fingers intertwined them self with Blake's.
Blake squeezed Reese's hand and smiled, a little part of him was growing louder in his mind. I think I'm okay with losing the bet, he thought looking over at Reese. Reese's hair was glowing in the red light. Blake could admit to himself that he was absolutely in love with Reese Vaungh.
As the sky turned dark they lit the bonfire, roasting s'mores and singing camp songs meant for little kids. Archie had stopped by with the band and put on a private show, but Blake figured it was just to spend time with Gabe. They were gradually getting closer, especially after their night in Santa Cruz. Maybe they...? No. This was sweet, innocent Gabe. They couldn't have.
The fire crackled, the entire soccer team, football team, cheerleaders, chess club, everyone was there and having a grand time. By the time the traditional game of truth or dare came around they had already gone through a cooler of beer and a few wine coolers and half a bottle of tequila.
Nikki grinned, drunk off her ass as she hung onto a buzzed Dory. "Reese! Truth or dare?"
Reese smirked and took a swig of his beer, "dare."
She giggled, "a little blast from the past," snorting, "that rhymed...Anywho, I, dare you, to French Blake!" Ingrid nudged her friend with a betrayed look, it looked like Ingrid was hoping she'd be the one getting kissed.
People began laughing and jostling each other. Blake's teammates laughed at him like a pack of hyenas. Blake felt himself turn red, thankfully, the firelight hid his change in colour. Reese gave his beer to Archie and Blake gave him a wolfish grin before climbing on his best friend's lap.
Nikki was already loving it, cackling as she brought out her camcorder. Reese asked, "how long?"
Random numbers were shouted out, Nikki picked out a random number, "three minutes."
Blake bit back a laugh and Reese spoke his thoughts, "that's it?" They had spent far longer trying to devour each other, three minutes was nothing.
Reese pulled Blake in for a kiss, it felt weird to kiss Reese in public. Normally they hid behind closed doors and dark theatres, deserted parking lots. Blake straddled him and his arms were wrapped around Reese and Reese had his hands on Blake's lower back. Reese laughed a little as Blake bit his lower lip, it was all natural for them to be like this. Reese licked at Blake's bottom lip and Blake readily parted his lips for him.
A low hum emanated from Reese, his hands kneading Blake's lower back just how he liked it and he softly moaned. Reese moved his tongue sensually, he knew exactly how to make Blake feel good. Everyone else melted away and for Blake there was only Reese. Reese pulled back and Blake whined a little, everyone needed to go home already so Blake could have some quality time with Reese in their tent.
The blond hugged on Blake, looking at Nikki, "was that long enough? I can keep going. I've always wanted to try sex on the beach, haven't you Blake?"
Blake played along, "definitely. What'd'you say, Nik? I can do a lot more." Reese gripped Blake's ass in his hands and Blake gave a playful thrust against Reese. Dory looked at them, completely disgusted and Gabe's doe-eyes were wide while Archie just snickered and nudged Gabe playfully.
Nikki looked like she was about to start screeching. She managed to choke out, "that was long enough." Blake moved so he was still sitting on Reese's lap but was no longer straddling him, it was kind of nice to be indirectly open about their relationship, everyone though it was a joke but it was still nice.
Members of the drama club were doing improv with suggestions from the crowd. The bonfire was still burning brightly, casting shadows on the sand. Blake was nestled up with Reese, Dory had "gone for a walk" with Nikki, and Archie was sitting off to the side with Gabe, talking with him softly.
The party dwindled down as people left because they were tired, needed to get home, or wanted to hook-up. Reese put out the bonfire and Blake took the trash bag to the can by the parking area. It was nearly two in the morning and finally Blake and Reese were all alone.
A great way to kick off summer holiday.
