The next day I headed to math full of determination. I sat in my seat practically bouncing. Why was I so anxious to see this boy that I did not know? Once he walked in I approached him. "Hey!" I said now suddenly nervous, my stomach tied in knots.

"Hi." He said casually as if we were friends. Though his tone suggested that he was being charismatic. He stared me square in the eyes and smiled. My throat went dry, my palms started to sweat, and my heart palpitated. I took a deep breath to steady myself.

"You know it's really rude to not speak to someone when you first meet," I said trying to stick to the script I wrote in my head.

"Oh, I totally agree." He said sitting back on the edge of the table. I wanted to join him, sit next to him but I didn't I stood my ground and would not back down until he admitted that he was wrong.

"I am just stating that it's rude and I think you owe me an apology," I said.

"So do you." He said arms folded across his chest.

"I owe YOU an apology!" I said confused, exasperated, and a bit dazed.

"Yes, you did not speak to me and I did not speak to you. So we both owe each other an apology." He said very matter-of-factly. Trust me this is not how I wanted to get my apology but if it means I get an apology then I'll do it.

"Fine. I am sorry for not speaking to you when we first met Ashton." I said simply.

"How do you know my name?" He asked his brow furrowing. How could I have allowed such a stupid slip up? I was mortified. I was terrified. What would happen next? I wanted to bolt right out of the class. I wanted to get as far away from him as possible, but at the same time I wanted to be closer to him; mentally and emotionally. "Um I-I," I stammered, God why, I hadn't stammered since I was seven why did I have to do it now? "I um notice things. I'm very observant. I saw your name written in marker on your binder when you sat at my table." I admitted.

"Oh," he shrugged, "Well I accept your apology. Now, I am sorry for not speaking to you when we first met....." he trailed off not knowing my name.

"Sophia," I said.

"I'm sorry Sophia." He said bowing his head a little. Once again my heart palpitated. The teacher said to take our seats and we both went to different tables.
