A week later it was time for Emma's party. We were on a video call and I was trying to decide what to wear. "Do you have any dresses?" She asked.

"Yeah" I say pulling out a small chunk of my closet. I held each up so she could see what I had.

"It's December so not a summer or spring dress." She advised me. "Do you have a green or red dress?" She asked.

"No, I don't have red but I do have green." I replied as I held up a mint green short-sleeved lace dress.

"Hmmm." Emma said through pursed lips. "That's not really Christmassy."

"Yeah, I know" I said looking at my dresses.

"Do you have like a gold?" Emma asked.

"Um...yeah I do." I say holding up two dresses.

"Put them on, I wanna see it." She said.

"Ok, be back in a sec." I say heading to the bathroom to change. As I strip I start to have another fainting episode. I grab the sink for support once more. I rest my head on the cool porcelain, close my eyes and breathe.

This episode was particularly bad. I stayed like that, hunched over the sink, for a long while. After five minutes I felt better and I quickly put on one of the dresses. Soon after I emerged from the bathroom and went to my room.

"Oh, there you are!" Emma said, "Give me a twirl." I did as told and twirled. "Hmm." She said after examining the white brocade dress with lace down the middle of it. "Ok. Can you try the other one on?"

"Sure." I said walking out the door. Once in the bathroom, I stripped once more and put on the other brocade dress. This one was yellow and white. It wrapped around my neck and then the two pieces joined as one large strip, with ruffles on the strip of fabric, all going down my spine. The only problem with this dress was that I needed a backless, strapless bra. Which I did not own because it did not exist.

I emerged from the bathroom and headed to my room. When Emma looked at me she was amazed. She had me twirl several times so she could admire the back. "But I don't own a bra that would work with this dress." I explained to her when I said I couldn't wear this one.

"Then don't wear a bra." She suggested. That idea had not crossed my mind.

"But it's not Christmassy." I replied quoting her.

"Well, I say it is and anyone that gives you a hard time can leave my party and go suck an egg." She replied. Her face was serious. I knew she was serious I knew that she was that kind of friend. I burst out laughing at the go suck an egg comment. After I laughed she laughs.

We laugh until our sides hurt and we can't catch our breath. "Ok I'll wear the yellow dress" I say. A wide smile breaks out across Emma's face. "But I'm wearing a sweater and leggings it is December."

"Ok, that's understandable." Emma says, "Now onto the shoes!" She says rubbing her hands together. I laughed again. I don't know why but I was relaxed. In the end, we decided on a pair of boot heels I had in my closet.

By the time my outfit was complete, it was 4:00 and the party started at 5:00. I did my hair, well let me rephrase, my mom flat ironed my hair for me, which took about thirty minutes. She was absolutely the best. My mom drove me to Emma's house. We were a little early so we waited in the car.

"Do you have your phone?" My mom asked for the hundredth time.

"Yes," I said producing my phone from my bag.

"Do you have your keys?" She asked.

"Yes." I said pulling them out of my bag.

"Do you have your-" she started but I cut her off.
