Before I knew it, it was May 26. I got a reminder saying it was time for Ash and I's double date with Em and Will. Em and I had had a sleepover the night before so I was at her house. "What should I wear?" Em asked me while she was raiding her closet.
"What do you want to wear?" I asked.
"Something nice." Em said, "What are you gonna wear?"
"I'm going to wear this." I say, pulling a navy cold shoulder short
sleeve top with pink carnations on it and blue denim shorts.
"You have it so easy," Em remarked. "Your auburn hair pops with every color, I'm envious of your hair color, I wish I had exciting auburn hair instead of boring brown hair."
"It's not that glamorous," I say. "I mean, I feel like when people see me they immediately think ginger, or of all the redhead stereotypes they've heard. Besides brunettes look good in pink and blue. If I wear a shirt that is all pink I look like real world strawberry shortcake." I say encouraging her, "why don't you wear the pink spaghetti strap shirt? It'll look good on you."
"That's not a shirt." Em said smiling mischievously, "it's a dress."
"Oh!" I say surprised her parents would let her wear that out of the house.
"I'm only joking, Sophie." She said when she saw my reaction. I simply could not hide my emotions, I was an open book. "I mean it was, years ago a dress. But now amazingly, I can still fit it, it's a shirt." She says pulling the shirt out of the closet. In the end, she wore the pink spaghetti strap shirt and denim shorts, and I wore the navy cold shoulder top and denim shorts as well.
Her father drove us to the ice cream parlor. On the way lecturing us on how there shouldn't be any inappropriate touching, and that they ought to be chivalrous and kind young gentlemen. And that just because my mother wasn't present did not mean that I was off the hook because he would tell my mom faster than I can say ice cream. Once we got to the parlor the guys were already there, waiting for us. Each wore a polo-like shirt Will, wearing a blue shirt, highlighting his blond hair. Ash on the other hand was wearing a red shirt. Intensifying his emerald green eyes.
I couldn't help smiling when I saw him. What can I say? He's adorable. I ran up to him and hugged him, pecking him on the cheek. He smiled and gave me a cream colored rose. "Thank you" I say. Ash and I stood and waited for Em and Will since it was their turn to walk on eggshells. Will approached Em's dad cautiously.
"Hello sir, I'm William." He said outstretching his hand, Em's dad took it reluctantly. Em was standing back nervously as this exchange happened. In the end, her dad approved, and Will also presented Em with a cream colored rose. We then went inside to get our ice cream the guys holding the door open.
The lady behind the counter asked what flavor ice cream we wanted. Ash got caramel, I got mint chocolate chip, Em got cookies and cream, and Will got french vanilla. After we got our ice cream we headed out to the outside seating. Once there we joked and laughed. One time early on in the date Ash booped my nose with his spoon full of caramel ice cream. I did the same to him in return, Em did it to Will and he did the same to her.
Em asked if this girl walking out of the shop could take a picture of the four of us with ice cream on our noses. She took the photo, but I'm ninety nine point nine percent sure she thought we were crazy. Overall it was an amazingly successful double date.A/N: Hey guys it's great to be back!
